Sept. 1970 Fj40 steering wheel shaft dimension and spline count.

Does anyone know what the steering shaft dimension is along with the spline count? My understanding is that the spline count is 33. I am trying to order an aftermarket steering wheel and want to make sure it fits. Thank you in advance.

You will get better results with year model and market IMHO

It is a 1970 Fj40 (Sept.)

See steering wheel, 6907 thru 7209 for fj40, part number 45100-60031. It shows 33 spline.

I can get it for you later tonight, I have a loose one one in my container.

What I do know is that the FJ80 steering wheel will mate up to the 33 spline shaft. Nice diameter if you have power steering, and it says LandCruiser on the horn pad. Usually find them in the classifieds in good shape for about the same price as a nice aftermarket wheel.

Thank you EWheeler! I am wanting to go with a specific Grant steering wheel I found. I contacted Grant but they only show install kits that go back to 1973. The technician advised if I provide the diameter, he might have something the works for my application.

If you go back to the site and look up any of the '70 Toyota models you will see it is the same adapter as the one listed for '73 Toyota LandCruiser, Part #4579 - Standard Installation Kit.
