^^^^^this.. been waiting patiently.

Hi guys- my apologies- I haven't really had much to update until lately. I've been fighting to get these going for months. But I do have good news! I have worked it out with a great new CNC manufacturer (finally, geez)- and a new Line-X dealer (the old one was a bit slow to respond at times). I'm very optimistic that these new partners will be a great asset in this endeavor. I've done a full "production" system to make sure the processes and procedures are correct, even though I could have built 50 of these systems myself in the same amount of time! Anyways, I'll be picking it up on Monday to begin the install/instructions/photos, and perhaps a video.

I can't express how sorry I am for the wait. I hope you all think it's worth it!

BTW- The original system is still going strong. It's been almost a year, well used with nary a squeak or rattle. Still loving it!

Update- here's the new system- FINALLY! Ok, it's still in a pile on the floor, but I'll take it. So, out with the old- see classifieds for the old system to be peddled- and in with the new. Hopefully all of the pieces fit together!

So far, I'm very happy with the result. Believe it or not, it actually took quite a few attempts to find a gray that didn't look too brown, too blue, too green, too light, etc. I think this one is a winner. As you can see I also had the steel coated with Line-X instead of powder coat. More durable and quieter when you have that stray zipper clicking against it on the trail... I'm excited to begin the install, but it may not happen until Monday at the earliest. Rain this week, and we are out of town this weekend. I'll keep you posted.

That looks awesome! Would love to put it on the scale before putting in the truck.

What is the finish on the box pieces?

Thx Rob!

The pieces are finished on all side with Line-X, and UV topcoated. I'd like to weigh it, too! Another guy and I pretty easily carried the pile you see here, but that doesn't include the drawer slides. They are heavy, but worth it!

No thread. Since I am moving over seas in just days and I saw you were having some manufacturing issues I plagiarized your design. Mine is not nearly as perfect as yours. I incorporated the barrier already installed in my truck.
Here is another view:

In order to get it in and out of the truck, I made the driver's side panels all removable using barrel nuts and furniture bolts. I also used them to connect the metal shelf to the wooden drawer box. I countersunk the aircraft style tiedowns in the top of the drawer. To cover the inside of the latch mechanism I built a metal box instead of a wooden one.

I painted the whole box and drawers with Rustoleum bedliner and then used all the black spray paint left over in my garage to spray the shelf and barrier. All in all I am pretty pleased with it. Thanks for the motivation and ideas!

Same here, no pics visible.

Well I can see them logged in to another computer. I blame this piece of s*** new Mud. Nothing more I can do about that. :meh: I guess emoticons work.

I re-linked them. How about now?

That works.

I can see the photos Hoser reposted. Is your tailgate storage thing a home-fabbed deal or something commercially available?

1407 - do you have to put a thin spacer under the front edge of the box system? I just test fit my box, built the same as yours and it just barely grazes the carpet on the tailgate when the drawer boxes are fully extended. I'm thinking of doing something to the tailgate area like Robred is talking you into doing, but would likely need a 1/8-1/4" shim under the front edge of the boxes to clear something other than the OEM tailgate carpet. FWIW, I used birch ply that was nominal 3/4", i.e. 23/32.

I see them now- looks good!

Fireball- if you look in the build thread, I used a rubber truck bed mat under the whole system to quiet everything and raise it 1/2" or so. It's a bit heavy, and I would use something lighter in the future. I just used it because I already had it cut to shape and was using it in there prior to the build. I would recommend a spacer front and back, so the system is symmetrically supported front and back. And really just because I'm OCD...
