Hello All,
Thanks in advance!
Any insight would be helpful - rebuild or swap with a rebuild?

I picked up a carb from a friend, he took it off his FJ40 long ago to do a SBC 350 swap. According to the front numbers it's a January 11th 1978 build. (if my research is correct)

My current carb numbers are December 26 1975 - day after Christmas???? looks like someone needed the overtime!

My 40 runs well and passes smog but there's a few things out of sorts. It doesn't seem to have good pick-up (I know it's a 2F.......) Also there's a definite difference between the 2 carbs.

looks like your fuel return has been blocked off.
X2 on staying with the original

You and I have carbs made on the same day, my carb rebuild thread from 2014. -> Aisan Carb Rebuild - 5 L 26 <-

Thanks for the link GA Architect!

Also, the hose in the circle isn't connected to anything? I see the metal tube and traced it back to the canister next to the starter but there's no obvious spot for it on the carb or surrounding area?
Is there a connection missing?

Your ‘75 looks like it’s running off the return line. Not enough fuel that way.

The other carb is an fj60. Different height.

LasCrucer,
That's what I "assumed" was the place to put it but it keeps coming out when driving. Also there doesn't seem to be anything down in that hole, and the end of the tube is a little roughed up. I'll do some more research.

Thanks Mark,
I forsee a quick drive to see you sometime after the new year, there's a few things I need your expertise on besides the carb.

Always appreciate the insight
