put on the e-brake, put it in gear...chock the wheels, disconnect the coil wire, have at it

The rope trick does work. It is also a neat trick to pop off a stuck head. Maybe try Shaun's way first since it doesn't require pulling a plug. If you do the rope trick make sure the piston is coming up and the valves are closed. You could snap a valve if not.

Which way does the pully turn? Can you put a breaker bar on it, next to something solid and spin the motor over? Done that dozens of times.

He needs to tighten the pulley, not loosen it.

Put it in gear in the highest gear possible (lowest mechanical advantage for the motor), like 5th, with the e-brake on and you should be able to tighten her up.

Oh. I read wrong... doh

I believe that is the bolt that fell out on the 80. Does anyone know what size wrench/socket needed? I can't find one large enough.

It appears I might have the same problem Chris is having and might be above my :wrench:ing ability. Is this the bolt in question?

Kenny, I believe it is a 36 mm. I used a 1 7/8 wrench to tighten it on Scotts 62. You can hold the flywheel with a prybar at the bottom of the bellhousing.
You can't get a socket in there with the radiator in the way, but NAPA sells one.(3/4 drive)

Thanks Dave. I read the FSM and saw 46 mm for that bolt but knew it wasn't the same size as the 20r of Chris. I have a 19 mm wrench. 46 or 36 is above anything I have but I can find someone with the 1 7/8 wrench.
Thanks for the info.

Congrats Chris, wanna come install mine now? ;)

Wait a sec, have you been riding around w/ the crank pulley bolt missing? that might not end well Kenny.

Yes Ramon, but it's been parked until I can get it on. Did I cause any damage or just possibility of pulley coming off?
