I'm new to the Series 100 world and bought my LX (2007 with 165k) about 6 months ago and need your help.

My Air pump when out creating a whining sound for a minute after starting. I changed all the components, pump, hoses, and 3 valves, under the intake but it's still throwing the P2445 code. I took it to Toyota for diagnostic help and they want $500 to remove the intake and inspect. I decided to reinspect myself, didn't see any problems, and ending up changing to another brand of pump (not Toyota). This did not make a difference.

I read that there were driver problems associated with this pump. The driver I'm talking about is Toyota part number 89580-60030. I think it was actually a recall in 2007.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Scott

I had not read this one specifically but several others like it. I'm trying to avoid the bypass route unless that is the absolute last resort.

Why do you want to keep it running? Does absolutely nothing for the truck, just something the EPA mandated for emissions control, install the bypass and never look back. Welcome to the forum.

I guess i'm trying to avoid the bypass because I already changed the pump and all valves and now want to figure this out and make it work.

Any additional ideas with my problem would be greatly appreciated.

I may have same issue as you to what a your symptoms besides codes.I'm not getting no codes just a whistling or whirling sound when car is cold on sometimes when starting and when driving taking off then goes away once car is warm.

Sucks that you changed all that and still getting problems, that’s why we just bypass it and save ourselves the headache. You’re heading down a rabbit hole and it goes deep. Then it’ll likely fail again in the future.

Yeah I would just bypass it. I have a Tundra that had the same issue. I just bypass the system and had no problems. Emissions passed no problem.

Here's the scenario. After I drive the vehicle the next time I go to start it it has the P2445 code and the VHS and check engine light on the dash. I clear the code with my code reader and everything goes away. This is what I've been experiencing.

Then I checked the 50 amp fuse, #29, under the hood and it is NOT blown. However, after I pull it and put it back it doesn't throw any codes for several starts as opposed to everytime I try to start it. I'm struggling for ideas.

Can anyone think of anything? Thanks

I think I got same issue , but no codes. So the system of secondary injection pump is only used on start-up correct. If left unattended does it cause further issues before being fixed as I'm not 100% sold it is the issue without a code just guessing.

It's only used at start up and then only when the engine is cold. It will not cause other issues.

Don't I recall you having a 2001 LX470?

If so, this being the source of your problem is not very likely. It's my understanding, that on the 100 series LC/LX, only the 2006-2007 model years have SAIS.

What bypass system did you use?

The by-pass system most (myself included) use is the Hewitt Tech kit. There is one large thread regarding the kit.

Yes correct I have 2001 model. So this system is only on the 2006 and 2007 model.

Right. I missed that.

You may want to reach out to Hewitt Tech. They know these systems well and may have some advice. They have great customer service.

I just dealt with this last week on my 07 Lx470 with 163K. Just purchased it a few months ago and got a CEL related to this issue. I got the block of plates from hewitt 33$? shipped and the actual bypass unit from slyfox 48$? (eBay). Slyfox is active on the Tundra and 4 Runner forums and there are tons of good reviews for his unit. Also his unit is less than 50$. The Hewitt unit is probably more sophisticated but it wasn't worth the extra 100$ to me!
