Jeff, it took forever to purge the fuel lines of air on mine. Just keep at it.

Thanks for letting me know. That was another suspicion I had after reading some threads. I was going to crack all fuel lines at the injector and crank it over until I see fuel.

Well, did battle again today and lost. I cracked all injectors one by one make sure fuel was getting to it and it would act like it wanted to catch. It started a couple times then just died. I had my wife crank it over wHile I was squirting some WD-40 in it and it love to that to the point where it started and then quickly died. All the times I was cranking over I had to glow plugs on.

I also had all vacuum lines off the IP.

I think my next move it's to check IP timing and/or valves.

Called a local mechanic who works on nothing but old Mercedes. After I told him what I was doing he said that he wanted to come out to my house because he's about to do a om617 in a 4Runner. I'll report back once he comes over.

Also this just came in. It's for the 6 millimeter injector line.

Mine crapped out for some reason after a few hundred miles of use. Which reminds me I need to call them for warranty. I do like how simple it is to install and use and that it keeps track of hours.

So what did the diesel mechanic say?

When we first talked he said he was pretty busy but he will call me when you get some time. I'll report back in once he comes out. Hopefully with a video of it starting.

Well, I think I do not have a lift pump issue. I pumped it 30 times and heard it pumping fuel back into the tank. While I was pumping it, I had some crank the engine. No start.

Hmm...Did you try removing the vacuum line to the shutdown valve on the IP? I'm wondering if your shut down circuit is applying vacuum while you're trying to start it.

Yep. I pulled all 2 of them. :)

Congrats dude! Let it cool down and check the valve lash. You can do it hot, but be sure to use the "warm" specifications.

Okay, getting a list whittled down. Tachometer mounted, glow plug relay and temp switch in, hand electric fan hooked up, and also 3 watt bulb in series to the alternator so it's now charging! Onward...
