When monstaliner sent me the sample and I held it against the ambulance stores that I bought which were in the original factory mustard color I too was amazed how close it was. I rolled it. When I did it it was during the summer and it cured very fast. I think doing it in cooler weather would alleviate that.

Finally got some wrenching time today. So I put on the oil cooler.

Anyone know where I can get seat brackets for Bestop seats that fit my FJ40 (1982). I emailed CCOT and they only sell the brackets with the seats. I guess they do not need the money.

I bolted the Smittybilts seats to the stock brakets pull the cloth back and see if there are holes to match

Yea, I do not have any seat brackets. I started to make a set but though if I can get a set and modify them, I would be hours ahead.

Nice work on the oil cooler, where'd you pick that up?

Would it work for P/S cooler? Or too much overkill?

Dan

I got the oil cooler kit at Mercedes 4x4. Already has AN fittings welded in on it. You can get the same cooler with hose fittings on it just about any parts store. That is what I'm running on my rock crawler for a transmission cooler.

Well I woke today to found out it was a holiday and I had the day off. When I told my wife this she said well I'll make you breakfast and then you can work on the cruiser all day. I love my wife!

So I got all the electrical work done. All I need to do is buy a battery. I also got the specific vacuum lines routed. The first picture is a vacuum cut off switch that hooks into the injector pump. The second one is the starter solenoid I used for my glow plug relay .

Ok, now that the temperature is 100 outside, let's get wrenching. Since I like gauges with numbers in them I ordered a water temperature gauge. The threads in the head are 14 mm by 1.5 so I also got an adapter that took it to 1/8 ntp for the sender. I was then going to change the oil filter and add oil in but the oil filter I bought did not have all of the O-rings in it. So I got on the phone and ordered one at my local Advanced Auto Parts.

go threadchaser go!

What's HP n torque specs on the motor you're using?

Oh, and yes. My power steering hose threads matched the threads on the Mercedes Benz power steering pump. Definitely divine intervention!

Got everything filled and connected to get ready to start it. After trying to get it to start, it will turn over but not start.

I have:
  • All GPs getting 12v, turned them on for 30sec before starting.
  • Fresh fuel
  • Primed fuel multiple times
I can smell fuel on the rag I have stuffed in the exhaust. Since it is cold here, 51 degrees, I am suspecting GPs. Not sure what to work on next to get it started. I'm heading over to the MB forums.

I don't know much about the MB engines but I had that issue on my Ford 7.3 and it was the fuel solenoid that went south.
