Scrapyard with 60 series parts in Australia?

Looks like work might be bringing me to Australia, and I might as well load up on LC parts while I can. I don’t know if it will be Brisbane or Darwin yet (I recognize those are opposite ends of the vast country).

Does anyone know of any scrapyard in either of those areas that have 60 series parts? Or some 70 series too?

In my experience we don't really have scrapyards like you guys do in the States. We have wreckers but they are no where near on the scale of what you guys have.

40 and 60 series in wreckers have all pretty much been cleaned out and it's impossible to find any good bits.

70 series is super easy. In the rural towns probably 1 in every 10 cars on the road is a 70 series! Parts especially for vdj79's are everywhere and you should be able to get whatever you can think of with no real dramas.

Gumtree and facebook marketplace are
Generally your best bet for parts.

These guys are always wrecking 79 series.

Actually Mr Landcruiser would be good for 60 series bits. But I can't imagine they would have many bits you couldn't get at home.

The difficult stuff to find in the US is any of the diesel parts. Canada had some diesel cruisers so it isn’t impossible, but still difficult. I diesel swapped my FJ, and I’m forever running in to little issues here and there that I need parts for.

I’m on the hunt for little things like diesel filler necks, glow plug controllers, diesel ignition switches, turbo or diesel badging, inclinometers…stuff of that nature that I can fit in a suitcase.

There’s some other cool things like barn doors and ARB accessories that I’d love to find, but there’s just no way I’d be able to bring those home.

Given prices I've seen for US 60-series you might consider buying a whole vehicle and importing it!

If I had the room I'd import all sorts of LCs. Unfortunately my garage barely fits my FJ60, and I don't have any spare yard space.

After I find some for myself but really I don’t think they’d survive shipping well, and I can’t fit them in a USPS flat rate box.

I got some from Oz for myself (not installed yet) and I'm trying to get more. I just need somebody trustworthy on the ground down there. Someone I know is bringing a container over - not Land Cruiser related - so I'm trying to get stuff to put in it!
