Love your build! I have a 2022 in the same color. Getting my Dobinsons IMS lift with UCAs in the next 10-14 days. Very cool to see what mine may look like compared to yours.

Dang, she looks great

Working hard to pay her off.

Looks like you modified the step on your drivers side! :D

Just wrapped up the weekend project. Bilstein 5100’s all four corners. Fronts set at 1.75”. Changed tires to Cooper Discoverer RTX2 255/7018’s on OEM wheels.

Pinky up decal for the haters and 10 hp.

Got all the leds from the Amazon kit installed. Also replaced my beat tail light housings. Only broke one clip 😠 for the brake light assembly when I took it out. Just didn’t pull in quite the right direction on the first side. It seemed to mount securely still though. There are still at least 2 clips and two screws holding it in. Overall I’m quite pleased with my work. Got the tails on carparts.com “replacement” brand. They were about half oem. I’m good with the quality at this point, only time will tell.

Looking for some feedback. I’m leaning towards replacing the UCA for the known benefits of better handling with my lift, love the idea of less twitchy and hunting behaviors. And there’s the possibility for full suspension droop as well. The local mechanic had also suggested it as a potential source of an increasingly annoying/frequent front end squeak (suggested ball joint wear due to current geometry). I’m looking at all the brands but freedom off road looks really enticing price/feature wise. My next up choices in increasing cost order were OME, Dobinsons, Camburg all ball joint models for east coast (wet) living. The SPC is also intriguing but I’m not looking for extreme size tires I’m ok sticking at 33” or 32” and I don’t want to overly complicate the alignment.
I saw the review on the freedom off roads on here and they seem to get the job done, but what do you all think?

I have absolutely no regrets with my Freedom OR UCAs. When you lay them next to OEM, ALL aftermarket ones are extremely over-engineered. Ridiculous that companies are charging near a grand for these parts. If you plan on tinkering with lift or tire size, then the adjustability of SPC is nice. Otherwise, set it and forget it .

Well -ALMOST- all of them are over engineered... 😂

I saw a comment somewhere that the Freedom have a proprietary ball joint? Is this true? Do the others I mentioned here potentially have an easily source-able joint when it needs replacing?

Freedom is proprietary, but easily, and cheaply, available from them. They are greaseable, and reports of failures are pretty rare.

So after more research and watching recommended video and others it looks like my main benefits will be better stability which is my primary goal. Also hopefully be the cure to my increasing squeak.

Diving deeper into this UCA research. Decided on the entry Dobinsons. It looks like they’re only available without the ball joint pressed in at the moment. Would you guys go with a MOOG problem solver, 555 as they are usually sent with, or Toyota oem? It looks like the ball joints are ranging from $60-$120.

Dobinsons UCAs and Sankei 555 ball joints ordered 🙌🏻

Went on a curvy mountain drive today and had some uncomfortable twitchy moments. Can’t wait to get them on, aligned, and report back.

Sorry, just seen this but I really like SPC upper control arms. Replacible ball joint and way more adjustable than most outthere.
