Broke a rule and got away with it and learned a fact about discount tire. They have hazard replacement on all their tires, it just pro rated unless you pay the $50 and it’s totally free. So my 20k mile toyo was still worth $240 to them. No complaints here and I’ll never pay for their hazard warranty again.
The spare is 265/65r18 did the 10 mi commute 5 times with the smaller spare on. GX didn’t seem to care. Will update if I run into any related problems down the road. Now I would say I learned a lesson and that is that I’ll get smaller more likely to be in stock tires where my spare can match from here on. Made me realize how much of pain it would have been if I’d been traveling or heaven forbid off road when it happened. And how the hell did I get side cutters in my tire??? I guess they fell off a truck into the backside of a speed bump and the rest is history. I thought the pointy end would have been the side that did the piercing.

Still loving the truck now that gas prices are back down a bit and the tires have been awesome. I’d highly recommend the toyo at III as very comparable to the Falken at3w. I’m sure any tire would have been toast in this strange situation.

dude that puncture is insane!! definitely a weird one. glad you got it sorted out.

i love my AT3's. I've had a lot of different tires and they are very good all around.

the small spare location in these things sucks. never had an issue squeezing a 33" into my tacomas or 4runner locations. i had to penny up and buy a hitchmount spare solution. don't like the way it looks really (although that is subjective) - but it does allow me to drive my family around knowing if i get a flat, i will have a full size spare

I have the Toyos on my 05 GX. Good tires

Love the rack!!

Method wheel update: center cap decal has been delaminating from all 4 wheels. Called method and they said it was a known issue. Sending 4 replacement caps that don’t have a decal (different design)

Now just to wait until mid January for them to arrive ( backordered)

At least it doesn't impact your ability to get around!
When I had to send back my ARB front locker for warranty, that was a couple weeks without my rig...

Still waiting on the method caps. I called late January and they said backordered until March.

In other news took her for 70,000 mile maintenance to a new to me shop. It’s a local mechanic servicing Toyota/Honda/Lexus/Acura only that comes highly recommended. I don’t think there’s a lot to be done besides oil change and rotation but I did ask them to take a look at a suspension squeak that seems to be from the front. Also mentioned to them my rear end makes a loud “goosh” noise on high speed compression when cold (under 40degrees). Wonder if the latter is a shock issue?

My 460 is at First Class HALT currently. 125k maintenance and having them track down the CEL/4lo light issue. Turned out to be a corroded park/neutral module. So far I’m pleased with the shop and their way of doing business.

Italy has GX460's? Not the Prado's???

Nice mechanic experience with Kyle at Sandlapper Automotive. His wife actually drives a T4R with same Dobinsons lift I have. He recommended getting Dobinsons UCA to match and resolve some of my minor complaints. He also has an ace alignment guy he outsources to. Prices all reasonable. Bring my own parts.

mobil 1 oil change with oem oil filter and tire rotation was about $85 all in.

They thought my rear suspension noise in cold temps was potentially the kdss, something I had also hypothesized. It’s not an easily reproducible noise here in SC of course due to it only occurring under 40f. They told me not to worry about it as it didn’t seem like a major issue at this time. I agree with that assessment.

If anyone else has experienced a noise at high speed compression in the cold please reach out and let me know.
