Been stalking a 8274 for about 3 months now. Purchased one yesterday for $375. I bench tested it and it seems to operate very smoothly.

Flintknapper - this is the one I emailed you about. Now that I have seen it in person and it appears to work properly ( won't know until I get it mounted on a bumper in a few weeks) I am not sure I want to completely tear it down. My 40 that it is going on is not a show truck by any means and I have plenty of other work that needs doing. If I don't completely restore, what would you do to it just as a maintenance issue?

Looking at the solenoid box, it looks like it has been under water. Clean all the contact areas and change the oil.

Clean all electrical contacts, change the oil... and run that baby!

Sounds good. Thanks to you both for the responses. I will clean those contacts and change the oil. It may have been underwater at some time but I think mostly what you are looking at is red dirt. There is some corroded spots in there but it looks worse in that picture than it really is. Thanks again.
