You can get the same deal from Socalmotorsports.com as well. Send John an email and he will give you the code. I just got mine today. Very cool little piece of machinery.

This is through SoCal, read the last three lines below.

This is how I got my Scanguage II for my birthday last April except it was a group buy via Yotatech forums. Good piece of equipment at a pretty good price. I recommend SoCal, they're good people.

ScanGaugeII GROUP BUY Hello TundraTruck members:

We are now running a group buy on the ever-popular SCANGAUGEII.

List price is $169.99, but we are able to sell it to TundraTruck members for $149.95 with free expedited shipping to the US States.

Check out all the features of this here:
ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool

Here is a good writeup a member here just recently posted:
http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/tec...lled-pics.html

Details of Group Buy:
149.95 incl. expedited s/h (50 states only - all other areas are more, but can be checked by going through the checkout process)

Step 1: Click here to be directed to our secure website.

Step 2: Add the item to your cart. Login or register a username. Follow the prompts to the order page.

Step 3: Enter "TTSG2" (without quotes) in the coupon code section, and click APPLY COUPON. Updated price will display.

Step 4: Continue to submit order.

As an added bonus to thank the membership of TundraTruckz for allowing us to sponsor with this group buy, if we receive 15 confirmed and paid orders, we will give everyone who orders a $10 credit on their SCMS account good for any future non-ebay SoCal Motorsports purchase.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to PM me.

Your credit card WILL NOT be charged until we receive 5 orders through our website. There will be no charge if we do not reach the 5 orders. The units will ship as soon as we reach 5 orders, and your credit card is approved.

$30 credit from Volant groupbuy can be used on this (this will be applied after checkout is processed, and won't appear on your initial email)

Group Buy Ends: 9/31/2007

If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

(BTW, this is also great for people who have larger tires...the Scangauge allows you to adjust the Scangauge speedometer reading so you can view your correct speed.)

That is actually how I found the SoCal group buy (Yotatech). That is an old lnk from Yotatech and they aren't really doing a group buy per se, they are just offering a discount if you are a Yotatech member or other car forum member. They were good to work with and were quick to answer any questions I had. There was no waiting until 5 units were sold and I only got one invoice and it was for the 149.95 discounted price.

Here is an email I recieved from John at SoCal:

Hello Nicholas,

Yessir....$149.95 shipped to 49 States (California residents pay 7.75% sales tax. Use CTSG2 as your coupon code and we'll get it sent out ASAP.

Thanks in advance,

[FONT=&quot]John

I hope this helps.

Well, I bought a ScanGauge from SoCal-Motorsports on 9/30/08 as I wanted to use it for a three day wheeling trip on 10/6/08; plenty of time for "expedited" shipping before the trip.

Credit card was charged $149.

Waited.

Waited.

- Called - SoCal Motorsports about 10+ times with no answer. Left two messages.
- Emailed all three customer service reps twice.
- Tried, on two different days, to communicate via AOL Instant Messenger with "scmsjohn"

Nothing.

I just found this ElectricCars.com CONSUMER NOTICE 2008 which outlines fraud and other possible business aliases.

One puzzling thing is that they just received positive feedback on eBay three days ago:
1
eBay Feedback Profile for socalmotorsports So, they must be, at least in part, active.

The next step is contacting my credit card company to ask about fraud protection.

There isn't a physical address listing on their website and being in NH, I wouldn't be able to drive down there anyway.

Does anyone know where these guys are or have had any recent dealings with them?

This is not the kind of stuff I wanted to be dealing with leading up to my trip and am aggravated that I even have to spend the time to post this. However, 'Mud has been very good to me and I'm just passing on the....

Dang, I'm feel bad for even passing them on as a SGII dealer. I had to wait about 2 weeks to get my SG, but it did come in the end. I sent a couple of emails, but I always got replies and answers to my phone calls. I probably would have gone with the JC Whitney deal since you get the 50$ gift card, but it wasn't available back then.

I have found out that most hypermiler and other car/truck forums have similar "group buys" and they are all able to swing the 149+free shipping deal.

Since we are on the subject, has anyone had any bad experiences with Egauges.com? I bought a boost gauge and a pod from them almost 2 weeks ago and I haven't recieved it yet. I emailed them last wednesday and they said it should ship "today or tomorrow."

I ordered pod, trans gauge and temp sender and it took damn near two weeks. But it did arrive. My feeling is that they don't stock anything and it takes them that long to source them. Just a hunch.

Thanks X,

Sounds about right. They sent an email saying they "were waiting on an item too fill my order." I think this is the same kind of deal with SoCal, because in the end the SG came directly from Scangauge. Egauges.com were the cheapest I found for autometer boost and trans temp gauges and tan A pillar pod, so I don't mind waiting as long as they come <month. Besides, my slacker @$$ should be studying cardio and pharm instead of dinkin' around on the cruiser installing gauges.

Chaldean, hang in there, it should arrive soon. I wanted mine before a long camping trip and to get some baseline numbers before I installed the Landtank MAF, but in the end I didn't have the patience, so I installed the MAF and drove it like I stole it to the campgrounds sans SGII.

Chaldean,

Any word on this, I am in the same boat as you, placed my order on 9/29. received a call that Friday that they were waiting for a tracking number from scanguage. Sent emails saturday night and today with no response. Voicemail box is full so I can't leave a message. John was very good about setting up the sale quickly and I give him credit for calling me on the 3rd but I am starting to get concerned. If I don't get ahold of any one by tomorrow i am probably going to get my credit card company involved. Anyone have a contact number different than 714-724-7978?

What I did was email all of the sales people and one of them talked to John since he was so far behind on emails and he personally contacted me by phone and email. I know they go to a lot of car shows ect, so that might be why they haven't contacted you. Slow shipping definitely, but as far as I know they are a legit
business. I hope all goes well for you guys, keep us posted.

Socal motorsports still hasn't resolved anything. After roughly 8 emails since this weekend, I have only received one response:

Ross,

Your order has already been processed. I will give the manufacturer a call today and give you a call once I've spoken with them.

Talk to you soon,

John

That was yesterday afternoon, still waiting for that call. I have been searching around the internet and have found quite a few people who are currently waiting for parts from this guy.

Transaction was eventually settled I received a tracking number yesterday, 17 days after my credit card was billed. My problem with the transaction was the lack of communication, it took quite a bit of effort on my part to get anything from them.

I also received my Scangauge aobut 17 days after ordering and agree with Ross that a little communication would have gone a long way.

Just an FYI if you follow the link in the text that I have posted you can get this deal.

From JC Whitney

Scanguage II for 159.99

Free shipping with Promo Code: SAVENOW

and a $50 JC Whitney Gift Card in the mail!

I think that is pretty hard to beat!

Here is the following conversation I had with them:

You: I saw on your site that there is a $50 gift card when I purchase a Scanguage II. Is this correct?
Adrian: Do you have the item number of the product you are interested in, so I could check that for you?
You: just a sec...
Adrian: Sure.
You: ZX445576
Adrian: Let me take a look.
You: ok
Adrian: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.
You: ok
Adrian: Yes it will but you'll need to order it from this link to get the gift certificate.
Scan Gauge II : JC Whitney: Auto Parts & Accessories
Adrian: Please click the link above.
Adrian: You'll have to order it through that link to get the certificate. It's the same item.
You: does it qualify for free shipping since it is over $70?
Adrian: Yes, once you've added the item to your cart you'll be able to enter the promo code SAVENOW.
Adrian: That will remove the standard shipping charges.
You: Can I get this deal if i call and order or is it for online orders only?
Adrian: It would only be for online orders.
Adrian: Would you like me to keep the chat open? I can remain online while you order in case you have other questions.
You: OK Thanks!
You: sure I am going to order now...
Adrian: You're welcome. Let me know if you need me.
You: I do not see it showing the $50 gift card anywhere?
Adrian: That will automatically be added to the order and sent through the mail. I it will not show on your Summary page.
You: Ok does it come with my order or is it sent later?
Adrian: It will be sent in the mail. You would get the gift certificate in about 7-10 business days.
Adrian: Be sure to submit the order by clicking "place order"
Adrian: You're welcome.
Adrian: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
