Some bad news for Imogene Pass this year. From the San Miguel County road conditions website:
Update! After staff surveyed the damage on Imogene Pass, it was discovered that a section of retaining wall was lost. This caused severe erosion along a section where the road is blasted into the cliff between the Twin Falls and Royer Gulch. Due to this failure, Imogene Pass will most likely be closed to vehicular traffic for the remainder of this season, this includes Tomboy Road.
My very well connected long time local source reports that estimates of $500,000 are being floated for the repair with multiple funding options needed to get there including possible fund raising from local and 4WD sources.
