Followed Bruno in his stock FJ45 on 30s I believe, handled some rough obstacles pretty well. My stock mini truck on 32s has done most of the harder trails around here. Left straight to Moab right from SAS7, then a week around Leadville/Salida doing many hardcore trails including Holy Cross and Chinamans. Knowing how capable your rig is and being able to visualize the line definitely helps.Question for the group but first some background. Other than hard core buggy rock crawling, I'm experienced and competent off road. I have no problem seeing the lines and will usually help spot less experienced folks when in a group. I'm bringing my bone stock 40 on 30x9.50 tires, open diffs. It's actually quite impressive what a stock 40 can do. That being said, do y'all think I will have any problem running these trails? I know most are mountain passes but some can be hairy at times. Would it be better to throw a lift on it with some 33s? I go back and forth all the time about lifting it but I love the way it looks stock.

That's part of the experience Joe. We encourage folks to team up and travel together. Even if it's in the slow lane because it's a different experience when you slow a bit. Roll the windows down, feel the wind and smell the air.I think this year I’ll be driving the pig out instead of towing….
For those that heard the story of the co workers ford excursion I borrowed last minute when my dodge transmission failed… It was one hell of a tow on the way home from SAS7.
Really looking forward to this

This not being able to edit a post until so many posts have been made is weird. My wife "and I". Forums man, how nostalgic. The Eyesore rebuild
my wife have been restoring rebuilding this 80 planning to come to this event ever since I heard about it. Hopefully I get all the small issues taken care of and it's ready to make the trip. 3fe so slow lane all the way! Lol.
Warmer days in Colorado..... meanwhile I pull an old Alaskan bush trick to get the 60 to run this morning.7 degrees this am in Northern MI….. thinking of warmer days to come in Ouray….

I think I would go with the rails before the locker. Just stay away from @raisinhell2 and @Broski. They take the paths you need the lockers for. Most of the trails aren't terribly difficult, some challenging. Just remember that Ouray is the Jeep Capital. If these newer Jeeps get around, 30+ year cruiser can handle it.This not being able to edit a post until so many posts have been made is weird. My wife "and I". Forums man, how nostalgic.
Either way, if the budget allowed for rockrails or a rear locker..... for this trip which would someone go with? Thanks!
Yeah it's good to hold out. Last year I wasn't able to go because the VA scheduled me surgery 5 days before the event. Had to cancel last minute.Nooooooo, missed the sign up. Hopefully I can get off the waitlist like last year. I already booked a KOA spot during last SAS.
I joined the wait list on July 1 last year and ended up being registered. Folks' plans change all the time.Nooooooo, missed the sign up. Hopefully I can get off the waitlist like last year. I already booked a KOA spot during last SAS.
Your the Man !!Good morning everyone, I had a couple of days off so if you haven't heard from me, you will hear from me today. I am working through all of the emails, voicemails, and DMs in this group. I'll be scrolling through the thread answering questions as I get them also. If you need something in a hurry I'll be in the office most of the day today so give me a call. My number is in my signature below.
I will also be adding an updated list of sites available in the campground today, the number of available sites is getting much smaller.![]()
I disagree, for the trails around Ouray I would do the locker first. In less your planing on running the wall there's nothing you will need rails/rock sliders for !I think I would go with the rails before the locker. Just stay away from @raisinhell2 and @Broski.
