Saginaw Pump question

Are all Saginaw power steering pumps the same? Will one from a Volvo 240 provide as much boost as one from a GM or heep?

Is there a part number cast into the pump that I should look for?

If you need more pressure, do a search under redneck ram on modifying the pressure valving in the back of the pump.

Pretty much any of them will work, but there are some differences that might matter for where it is mounted and where the fittings are.

I'm replacing the chattering Toyota PS pump in my FJ62. I've flushed it and been running synthetic and it still begins to chatter and howl and it feels spotty/jerky.

I see a lot of FJ60 owners have done this mod, but I haven't found a FJ62 yet so I guess I'll take the plunge.

Add a power steering cooler and see if the chattering/howling goes away.


Also bleed the air out of the system, it may help.
