Well when I thought all my problems were on a hiatious for a while they continue to strike. When we left I noticed my cruiser wasn't running as fast as it had when I drove there. Didn't think anything of it...just keep goin. Well we got into pickens and the awful smell occurred and JP started honking and flashing his lights at me. I looked at my rear driver tire and see smoke billowing out of it.....Son of a B***ch.....Pulled into the legacy parking center and we dismantled the tire and beat the drum off with a hammer and screw driver and the pads were disintigrated and very black...So called the insurance company for my roadside asst. A bunch of Bull Sh*t on that....the first 8 miles are free and then a buck 50 per mile after that. Well I got out of that one by being a nice a** h**e to the insurance people.....got insurance to pay for all the towing. Well the guy who towed me also has his own shop and has a tubing bender, rebuilds engines, etc. etc. etc....got his card here in clemson. Although I don't think it was totally locked up from the get go, think it just got worst and worst as I drove. So I will be redoing my rear brakes now. So the Saga continues so drink lots of beer and say lots of prayers for me!!!

That's it! I'm following the Mafia home next time!

All the interesting stuff happens to them after the events! In January, it was JP and his "Flying Tire of Death" and now this.

Next time, I'm telling the wife we've got to make a pit stop in Tigertown before we head back home to Green-vegas. She'd get pissed about the detour, but at least we'd get to witness one of these fantastic events first-hand. ;p ;p

Chuck I still have all the parts from at least one brake maybe 2 that you are welcome to pick through. Also just wanted to point out that you can no longer talk junk about your cruiser and mine because mine broke wheeling and yours broke on the paved road. :flipoff2:

Damn Chuck, you couldn't have broken down at the meet where there were about 40 cruiserheads? Could have been an added wrenching session. I gave a broken birfield repair seminar at one of our FLCA annual meets. (It wasn't a planned seminar. )

Yeah I know. I wish it had been smokin as I got to the meeting, cause I'm sure with all the little extra parts everyone has tucked away in there cruisers we could of come up with a solution to get me home. Yeah Richard I don't talk to much junk just kinda funny when you're cruiser breaks down in your driveway...oh wait I've been there too...guess that one doesn't count. I'm hoping the cylinders are fine and all I need is to put new shoes on. How much did it cost you rudy to replace all your brake lines and t's from the cylinder to the wheels. I think my biggest problem is rust in the lines and that is what caused it to over load and lock up. The cool thing about the guy who towed me home he was an old gentleman that had a lot of knowledge on rebuilding vehicles so I picked his brain. Also does Brother Barry have any drums that'll fit a 40, I only need the rear ones, when I rebuilt the front ones I was able to get them turned...I may be able to get theses done but not sure. Thanks Chuck

Barry's shop dumpster has swallowed many a rear drum brake setup. He is a big proponent of retro-fitting rear disk brakes on cruisers. I'll ask him but I know his shop took a big hit during last summers storms. He threw away more stuff than most of us own.

I don't believe he's done any RDB conversions in a while, but ya never know. I'll call him at work tomorrow.

Thank ya sir!

Chuck I didnt pay a darn thing. I got that extra rear axle when I bought the engine up in Sparkle city. It had the stainless braided lines and new components on it so I swapped them all over. My rear brakes are basically brand new.

What does Barry retrofit the rear's with....I imagine he doesn't buy a kit to do it with either....does he use landcruiser parts or does he do something like the monte carlo disks. Mine was built in oct 67 so I'm not sure what kinda retrofitting I could do. Thanks Chuck

Haha...the fine memories....couldn't of done it without a lot of help from you guys!!
