I agree with most here that the 100s look much better without the running boards. My only concern is that I live on 3 miles of dirt roads. It would seem the boards do a little to protect the side of the vehicle from being covered in dirt and mud. What is everyone’s opinion on this? Will I notice much difference if I remove them? I have a 2.5” lift and 285 75 R18s so they also are a little wider than stock size tires.

If you're driving on 3 (6 round trip) miles of dirt roads everyday... I'd think you gave up the whole clean truck thing long ago. I'd ditch the boards and do the front and rear OE mudflaps.

Dirt or gravel? Driving on gravel kicks up stones pretty forcefully with big meaty tires. I never noticed with the running board but you sure do with sliders. I'd hate to see what not having anything would do in short order.

Put on the factory front mudflaps

My dad used to be a body man, he'd always apply something like this to pick up's rocker panels.

Gravel Guard 1, Rocker Panel Coating - 24 oz., Aerosol

It is clear and textured to prevent rock's from chipping the paint but you can't see it.
There are many brands and options, but that's what I'd do.
I grew up on a dirt road, 10miles to the nearest paved road. It was always a one lane tow track in the winter. And a mud bog in the spring. And a dust bowl in the summer. I loved it.

I can't offer help this minute, but I'm actively developing a unique solution that I'm hoping to have ready for sale before HIH8 (July). Development is nearly finished, and I'll announce as soon as I know there will be no further hurdles to get to market.

FWIW Last month I ordered the front mudflaps from Camelback for my 2006 LX. They called back and told me I’d need to get them from Lexus. Maybe they’re different part numbers? I still haven’t looked into it.

The LX mudflap is different due to the cladding that the LX has compared to no cladding in the LC.

The stock running boards are perfect for dirt roads.

They look like minivan, but they do a great job of protecting the body panels from gravel and mud on unpaved roads.

I really like my stock running boards, but I don't do much technical trails or rock crawling.
