I'm currently in the middle of doing an SOA and motor/trans swap on my 62. I'm running a dodge auto trans, and still want to run the stock FJ62 axles. The problem is that the dodge t-cases are center shaft for the rear output, and the toyota axle is of course offset.

Does anyone have a recommendation on what t-case to run that will be offset, and possibly how to do this? I've been thinking of a NP205, since I know those came in the dodges, but I'm really new to 4wd's and don't know much at all. This FJ won't be a trail rig and won't be abused too much, it'll mainly be a DD.

NP-203 reduction box to a split case?
 
The length of the rear drive shaft is long enough that you can run a center output with the off set rear axle.

Run the np205 as that is the best transfer case around

I've thought about that, but didn't know if it would be too much of a bind being at that angle.

I will agree with tapage, running an fzj80 rear will center the differential a bit, plus it will give you a full float axle which will help if the torque from the cummins ever breaks an axleshaft.

Too bad you aren't closer to me, I have the one I converted to leaf springs and SOA. Its not too much work its just time consuming.

This! I've been doing the centered t-case/offset pinion for a while now (35" d-shaft) with no issues other than it looking just wrong lol
