The Ford 9" Axle Housing. This axle housing is a touch different than you are used to seeing from housing fabricators, this housing is not quite round! To put it simply, if it was round it would be weaker. The housing has 14 different facets to the basic diamond shape resulting from 36 individual bends! The end result is an axle housing that is the smallest shape possible and strongest shape too, AND there are no abrupt edges to hang up on passing rocks. The Toyota 8” has 10 bends for the same result.

We make the Ford 9" Axle Housings to have 1/8" clearance of the ring gear because Ford made all ratio R&P's exactly 9" in diamerer. 3.08 ratios are 9" & 7.20's are still 9". The Toyota 8” has 1/8” clearance over the largest gear selection (the 4.10’s are bigger). Having more clearance would only make them bigger and that is not the goal here.

The housings are made over long so you can cut them to length. They will come in 1 tube diameter and thickness but you can try and convince me that 3 1/2" x 3/8" wall DOM isn't strong enough. The Body of the housing is 1/4" A50 plate and the faceplate is 3/8 for better stud retention. They are internally reinforced with 6 seperate reinforcements that all tie together to make it way strong. You will also have the option of front or rear and left or right drop. We stock these so you won't have to wait either!
And they aren't that heavy either!

Most of our welders don't dress this way but when Loren wanted to wear the leather apron how could I say no?

Actually, for a hot 19 year old model I think she really liked the housing:D

The 9” is $525 picked up or $590 delivered in the lower 48. I think we can hold this price for a few months if steel dosen't do what it did 2 summers ago.... The Toyota 8" is $500 picked up and $565 delivered. We were asked to be the manufacturer by the upcoming Sixty9 third member also but I think what you want to know about is a Cruiser housing. We are working on one and it should be available within a month!

Those housings are Sweet!

Any chance you would make a Toy Housing with Cruiser 3rds? or is the demand not there for that?

BTW. I just made two small orders recently, and Shipping was Way Fast, Orderd Monday, Had them Wensday, Orderd More Wensday, had them Friday!

Thanks Dan!

We are working on a Cruiser housing right now, Mudrak has dibs on the first though! (he'd get mad at me if I didn't tell you that) We are also working on a new twist for a cruiser but I will keep that under my hat til its ready...

Well....

do you have full toyota8" housings? like the whole thing, including flanges?

X - 2
Front and rear?

We have the 8" housing and are working on the flanges and Knuckleballs. I was going to buy the flanges from another axle housing manufaturer but his good price turned out to be 6 times what they cost to make (For Wholesale!) so we are building out own...

The Cruiser housing should be about a month.

yea, i want one of your rear axles for my toyota 8" but i am lost when it comes to putting ends on LOL will keep waiting for you to make some :D

X 2 for the 'cruiser housing. Need one for my '40. How about high pinion? Going SOA and want to save pinion angle as much as possible. I'd rather have y'all set the caster too.

Thanks Guys!
Don

Nice axles Dan....

What drop out center section high pinion Toyota differential are you looking to run in the front of your 40 series Land Cruiser?

Or are you thinking about a Hi9?

A long week but a few answers for you!

How about with 80 series steering balls, then we are getting somewhere.

I was going to answer these all seperately but they are kind of answered best as one....

We are just buttoning up the rear suspension on my cruiser, double triangulated 4 link with a 9" centered rear axle. The 40 housing will be a couple of weeks still...

For the front we are trying a few new things...

We are going to use a Hi pinion Toyota 8" with FJ80 outers so we can test a few prototypes of FJ80 Hi Steer we are working on. The Knuckleballs for the 80 won't be done by the time we are done so they will be stock. The front will be on leaf springs. To start it will be on 35's but I think 37's will be in the picture rapidly but this way we can better test the adjustable rear link setup....

I will post some pics tommorrow after i clean up a small misstake Garett did with my math:p I will also post up some progress reports on another interesting project we are really getting going on. We don't work on other peoples rigs so they are all mine or an employees but this one is mine, a '94 Ranger with a '93 3.2 DOHC SHO motor. This is a 2WD Desert Truck for the 7200 BITD class! Its really kind of fun to do something different and I haven't gone fast like this since I was 17!

BTW, I hope to see lots of you at Georg's in Stockton next week and if we can get things done in a hurry we will also see you at the Rubicon in June...

question

when is the calendar with the girls coming out ;)

Good Question!

I actually have a pro coming to do the pic's and he has 6 girls lined up, real models and very hot but I need to get a few rigs done so they have something to lean on besides me...!

Um...I'll volunteer either of my rigs dan. i have ruff-stuff fab parts on both my 60 and 80....:grinpimp:

How about these

This is the axle housing we are developing for the 9.5" 3rd. For the rear the diff cover will come off and this is what it will be like when it is on.

fj%209.5rear%2520side.jpg

This one is offset, not sure if that is the way we will end up but it makes it easier for the leaf sprung guys...

normal_fj%209.5%20front%20view.jpg

This is the second prototype and we should have them in a week or so.

normal_fj%209.5%20front.jpg

The front will look more like our standard housings...

BTW, watch for the FJ80 steering, lots of better ways to do it than what is being done. And they are not even expensive, I have also heard a rumor (confirmed) about a new FJ80 knuckle that removes any reason for an expensive steering setup...

Are you not making the rear diff covers for the FJ40s any more? Don't see them on your site.
