Rubicon in a GX

Question - Has anyone done the Rubicon in their GX470? Considering attending the Marlin Crawler event in Sept. and curious what mods folks would have completed for traversing the 'Con. Planning for I buy or upgrade. Rather drive from Oregon in the Lexus than the 80 series on 35's at 10 mpg.

Since it is 120 series based, i would think a bare minimum would be 33's, 3" of lift and at least one locker. Having good recovery points or bumpers front and rear is critical since there is no where to attach a recovery strap to plastic. i went through with a guy in an FJ Cruiser on 33s and 3" of lift and had to stack a lot of rocks to get him through while it was much easier in my 80 on 35s.

You may want to read up on what is required for FJ Cruisers to join Rubithon since they share chassis and suspension.

Would not recommend it in a GX unless you are fully built (skids, sliders, bumpers, locked) on 35's and even then I'd still expect to probably come away with some kind of trail damage. Here is a thread that gives you a better idea of how tough this trail can be;
