I am a new 91 J80 owner and had the recent experience of maintenancing the front axel with the guidance of a friend. Everything went well.
Just the other day when turning right, (only right) the truck makes a kind of rubbing sound. I can not see any marks or loose hardware. When turning left there is no sound just when turning right.
Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this.
Thanks
TJ

I don't know why anyone would change it, but there are a couple of knuckle stopper bolts on each knuckle. They limit the turning angle of the wheel. When fully turned, the wheel should not touch any part of the body or brake line (flex hose).

I have not replaced the shocks but i am know they need it.
The rubbing sound starts soon as the turk starts to truns right.
thanks for the advice.

I found out what was causing the rubbing sound. The steering dampener must be damaged or gone bad. When working on the front end I also replaced the pan gasket and had to jack up the motor to get the pan out and back in. I unknowingly put too much pressure or some how it got damaged. Mystery solved. Now I got new one and had to come with a set of shocks. Merry Christmas to me. Thanks to those who submitted suggestions.
Hope everyone has a great Holiday.
