I have a CVT Pioneer Series Ranier mounted on 2 simple Thule crossbars that mount/clamp to the factory rails. Here's my take-aways:

RTT: This is my first RTT, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but the CVT seems good. It takes me less than 10 min for full set-up or break-down, although on a lifted vehicle it's kind of a PITA...even though I'm 6'0" tall it involves standing on rear tires & in the front door openings (I don't have steps or sliders...they'd make this much easier)! The 3" foam mattress is pretty comfy & it fits me, my wife, & my 8 year old son side by side (the sleeping footprint is slightly narrower & slightly longer than a Cal king).
I'll admit that I'm jealous of super easy set-up offered by the hard shells, but they wouldn't fit all three of us...so, they're not really an option right now.

Rack: I went for the simple Thule crossbar set-up to make it easier to take the RTT on & off. Basically, the RTT is "permanently" mounted to the Thule bars, but the bars are easily removable from the GX rails (it only takes like 1 min per foot & they're easily accessible). I haven't done it yet...but I plan to rig up some pulleys & ropes in my car port. That way I will be able to drive into the carport, secure the ropes to the RTT, "release" the Thule feet, then lift the RTT off the GX.

Magic! JK …It was kind of a pita. Bought the Eezi-Awn FrontRunner mounts to mount to the FR rack (black ones) but the Eezi-Awn didn’t connect to the mounts FR mounts. That was annoying. So then call Equipt1 where I bought the awning and bought their mount to connect to the awning (silver ones). Had to drill the silver ones out a bit in order to connect the two mounts together. Luckily it worked with no clearance issues for the tent.

View attachment 1416282 Hi! I too have the front runner rack love it! I have a 23 zero tent on top and have spent 37 days in and have been very impressed with the build quality of the tent and really Impressed with how easy it is to put on and off. I would highly recommend the soft cover tent. But that's just from my experience.
I’m looking to get a GX 470 in the next week. How hard is it to remove the factory roof rails..? Is there a RTT rack that can go over the factory rails..??

The factory rails have 5 bolts each that hold them down. The plastic "beauty" caps on each end and in the middle are what will give you the most trouble by nature of how they're clipped on. If they're anything like mine were, they're going to be brittle from 20 years of sun baking and not salvageable.

I couldn't say if a RTT was mountable on the factory setup but I'm sure someone has done it.
