Hey Mudders,
I'm trying to do my oil pump seal and haven't made it very far. I can't get the damn radiator fan shroud off. The top two bolts are out. The battery and tray are out. The clip for what appears to be the trans cooler line is loose and not hanging me up. Something on the lower driver's side corner feels like it's holding it in - but I can't see or feel it.

Is there a bolt down low on the shroud? Please give me some advice if you have any.

Thanks
Russ

If it makes you feel any better I did mine with it on -- keep going!!

The the fan is out correct? If not it may be the fan is in your way, I don't have that issue as one of the PO's broke my shroud in two and sawed a good 16" out of the bottom. But there are two tabs, one on each corner that slide

Yes the fan is out. The shroud is just hung up - I can't for the life of me figure out why. There's no bolt at the bottom, correct?

Keep working at It. There Is just no clearence down there with various lines, Its very tight fit. It Is had to get back In as well However much easier than removal. Good Luck .!

IIRC there are small "feet"on the bottom corners that fit into a retainer pocket on the tank. The hoses on driver side make it hard to lean the shroud back far enough to allow that side to raise up. May need to get one hand down into that corner to get enough leverage

did pull the fan out ? IIRC I loosened the shroud then the fan. pushed the shroud back and then slid the fan in between the rad and shroud.
once the fan was i could then reach down to the bottom clips and just kept wiggling the shroud back and forth till it came out. indeed feels like it is screwed in below but tis not just clips on each side.

I got it out. I ended up having to momentarily remove the top radiator hose, and losing a little coolant. It seems others got the shroud off without disconnecting that hose. I wasn't able to. Thanks guys.
Onto the stripped screws now...

Take the lower radiator hose off for a few seconds while you pull the shroud off. It should pop right out then. I had the same problem until I pulled the hose.
