I'm in the process of buttoning up a mini project to get rid of a P0401 CEL. Replaced all vacuum hoses after removing upper intake manifold. Putting it back together and installing a brand new EGR valve I bought a year ago. I just noticed there's an extra threaded hole that goes straight through the valve (ie. not closed at the end). This is different from my old valve.

I have no idea why this hole is there. The only threaded hole on my old one was for the little bracket that holds the modulator valve in place. Pics attached.

Can anyone shed light on this? And what the heck should I do with this valve?

Looks like maybe the valve is for a newer or older truck? The old one has a place for that hole but it's not drilled and tapped. Any chance you could just put a bolt in it or something?

Hey Sam.

The part numbers are different. The new one is 25620-66010. The old one is 25620-66011. That's the number on top of the valve.

Ironically I bought the valve thru ACC Toyota at the time. I wonder if Will (no longer there) got me the wrong one? That would suck...a $183 mistake. Doh!

I suppose I could put a bolt in it, but I don't know what type of thread and size....

The 93-94 25620-66010 valve has the hole for a temp sensor. In 93 the federal valve was plugged with a 90341-10009.

You could certainly use that plug but I do not know if the flow values are the same between the two valves. They are probably fairly close.

Dunno if this helps or not?

Well, to C Dan's point we don't know if the flow will be the same. I'm going to remove it, install the old one, and hope all my other work is what actually resolved the CEL.

Poop.

If you bought it from Will and it's a Toyota part then it probably came from me. Give me a call an I'll see if I can swap it out for ya.

Well done sir.

so, does the plug come with the replacement valve or do I need to order it ?

alternatively, what's the sensor part number ? :hillbilly:

You will transfer the plug to the new valve. You do not require the sensor for your application.

Got the new valve a number of days ago. My P0401 code is no more!!
