well.... I did it again. I purchaded a wrecked truck 1990 HZJ81 RHD with 140k kmh. The interior is excellent. It had a front collision with a arb bumper. So, the frame is bent. Radiator and on and on and on. Good engine Diesel, 5 speed manual tranny and part time 4wd.

Now my issue is: i have a good truck that is locked and clean title. I also have the frame for the frame transplant. I will post pictures later.

Tell me your opinions please.

A nice Lexus, But gas.

One opinion. You stink :flipoff2:

Ok. Mostly kidding. But wouldnt it be easier and more marketable to swap the drivetrain instead of the frame? Into a LHD truck perhaps.

Either way. Awesome purchase and in excited to follow along.

I thought about this. But the only thing to stops me is how nice this thing is inside. It will be a nice build if i swap everything intu the 97 and it will clean the title.

I know i stick ;-)

If it's North Carolina Titled make sure your frame VIN matches your clean title.
If you need to do a frame swap and the VIN does not match the title then you need to get the NCDMV inspector to validate the origional frame with correct VIN before you discard

I found out the hard way that NC is a frame state and any changes to the frame have to be documented by DMV so that you don't have problems down the road

I hate dealing with electrical to begin with, so wiring that harness into a LHD truck seems like it would be a nightmare. With extra wire and lots of splices it would certainly be possible; it might even be easy for some folks but I'm not one of them. I'm sure that your original inclinations were to use a frame that you already own and swap it out - that's what I would lean towards as well.

Curious how you found this out the hard way? I haven't had the same issues.

Sorry I did not fully clarify. I was letting him know how to do it the proper way if he is an NC resident.

Since he has a clean title he will be able to get a new one no problem as he does not need to see the inspector

If it's ever inspected and found to not match he will have many problems likely losing his title and near impossibility of getting a title again.

I only found out "the hard way" .....

I bought a salvage title car which required a change of frame. I swapped the frame and tried to get it inspected. The inspector found the VIN was not correct on the frame but correct on the body tag and still they denied the title. I had the origional frame with the correct VIN and could have had it inspected and correctly documented so that down the road there would never have been an issue but unfortunately I was unaware that NC is a frame state and sold the frame for metal scrap.
I have a lawyer now working on this to hopefully resolve.

The only VIN that matters to NC is on your frame.

I got more into it today. I dont think my plans are selling the truck but definitely making it worth more than it does right now.
I am leaning torwards fixing it and swaping frames. Just because the condition of the body and the interior.
@NCLARKIN you are rhe second persin rhat told me that about the frame. So thanks for your input. It would suck if i do it and then get stuck with the bill and a non-drivable!truck. I am not resident of any state. So i have to keep inder rhe radar ;).
I am charging the batteries tonight trying to crack the engine tomorrow. Make sure i am not working with something that i will fix and i wont be able to drive because a bad engine. ( do not trust copart on the engine idle crap. It is not way they started this engine)

But well. I am vested in it and i have to pick my losses if it doesnt work. I am surr it will. It is a Toyota anyways.

I also will be selling a slightly used ARB bumper. Never offroaded. See the pictures above if interested. I think i will start at $1200 since it is special edition. You have to bent your frame to install it.

When we did the 1KZTE swap in the 92 pickup we used a guy in philidelphia to extend wiring harness for left hand drive. Uses all factory connections and all worked great! Let me look back in file for contact info.
