I think they are a good idea, but they are too small, and consume too much real estate.
 
A credible source mentioned that they will no longer mount any fuel type Rotopax on the roof or higher on the truck/trailer. The unit they mounted on the roof rack failed and subsequently leaked all over the truck. So not only did they no longer have 2 gals of emergency fuel, but the mess/damage to the truck was a pain while overlanding.

It was not clear if perhaps too much fuel had been dispensed into the unit or there was some other "user error" that caused the failure. But thought I would share.
