Noise in a FJ-40, say it ain't so. Yea I'm more interested in keeping heat out in the summer. I have a large back heater and can/have drive around at 30 MPH in -30 weather wearing shorts and a tee shirt with the windows down. Kick and cowl vents closed. I'm guessing some sort of glue in closed cell foam.
slight hijack here but what rear heater are you using? my 40 is stinking cold in the winter. am insulated headliner will serve me in both heat and cold but i need the heater you have!!

I scored a rear heater out of like a 17 place chevy van. The plastic housing had a chunk busted out of the grill - so the yard mechanic replaced the whole unit and threw the damaged one in the trash. I ask and they said I could have it. I used a back saw and cut the plastic housing off square. I designed up a wood box to mount the unit - it was $5 for the cut wood, $5 for the hoses to plumb it in and $5 for the 3 speed heater switch from NAPA. The mount for the reloading press was my first welding project. All this about 1984.

I'm planning to do 2 coats of Lizard skin thermal, 2 coats of Lizard skin sound and a coat of white bedliner on mine. Doing that to the whole interior but, except for the top cap, the rest of the bedliner will be tinted the same color as the body.

That’s what I did for underneath and inside floor, including the firewall and inside the doors: primer, two coats of Lizard Skin Thermal, two coats of Lizard Skin Sound Control, two coats of Raptor, and then the final paint color.
