Is there any kind of pad/protection between the rear heater core and the steel case? Mine didn't have anything but wouldn't the steel housing halves rub holes in the heater core tubes over time? Does the sides of the heater core that contact the housing not have coolant therein and are just for heat dissipation? I have to drive this thing up the mountain next Wednesday and getting the rear heater back together and installed is a necessity.
