I also resealed the seams on the cowl with this stuff. A steady hand goes a long way here lol.

Hey Roma I joined this site so I can keep up with your progress. Wow, looking good.
Good job with the seam sealer.

Since installing the 3b I lost the factory Fj40 battery tray/support. Factory bj's have either dual batteries on either side of the radiator or a single battery on the left side of the radiator. When I put Fj60 power steering on I used ford shock towers which will not let me use any factory configuration. So when I had the truck running this past summer I had two batteries strapped between my roll bar on top of the rear wheel wells. That was a temporary fix until I could fabricate something more permanent. I fabricated one battery tray today which I hope will suffice until I can make another one for the second battery. Couldn't have gotten it done with out my good cruiser buddy's help...... and welder :). Thanks Michael.

I started hacking on the factory battery pedestal. And welded this support to pick up the shock tower. Forgot to take a picture of what I started with but I presume most of you know what a factory one looks like.

Painted it with some flat black as soon as I find an oven I'm going to start powder coating my own stuff and will go back and powder coat a bunch of little things.

Here it is bolted up I was pleasantly surprised at how stable it turned out. Picked up a steering box bolt.

Coming along nicely!! Hope to see it Saturday. Here is mine:

Thanks! I should be able to drive it up there im scheduled to pick it up from linex tomorrow so if I can get the top back on it tom night I'll drive it. Any eta on yours?

Well so much for promised times not getting it back from linex until Monday. I did swing by Toyota and picked up some goodies. All new seals for the hard top including the roof cap, new markers, reflectors, bumperettes, emblems and gaskets. Oh and picked up some new Toyota brake calipers for the front end. Ouch!

I have a bolt kit coming Monday for them to start mocking it up and then painting. I picked Calvary Blue which is one if the 2013 FJ colors. It will be different. Looking like I will have it by the end of January. But even then I will have several small things to do.

Trans tunnel

This stuff should keep the moisture and drafts out. It's basically tar tape.

Punched some holes

Installed with the shifter boots

I bought a lhd shifter as well so no more filling up on my passengers.

Plugged this hole because it will not be used with the high capacity fuel tank

I'm not so sure working on this thing till 10:30 is such a good idea when I have to be up at 6am for work. At this point I'm so anxious to put all the new goodies on I can't sleep anyway. :)
New emblems, gaskets, rear reflectors as well as stainless hardware for em. new bumperettes with steel hardware along with my pintle hitch for when my m416 wants to tag along.

Beautiful truck! Jealous...

Roll Tide.

Is your PS bumperette on correctly? Looks funny. According to CCOT there is a right way to mount, see below:

"Right and Left Bumperett Positioning
Yes, Toyota Bumperetts are handed ~ Rt & Lt
The straight side of horseshoe goes outside
The curved side of horseshoe goes inside towards step"

Thanks!

Got this massive fuel tank installed this evening. 29 gallons I'm figuring the 3b should get 20mpg at least. That would come out to roughly 580 miles between fill ups. If that's not enough I have a 23gallon tank I can install out back.

Not much foot room here...guess its a trade off comfort or more fuel.

I wish I would have predrilled the new fuel inlet outlet in the trans tunnel so I wouldn't have a bare edge but it should be ok with a grommet installed.

Need to figure something out here.

Funny you mentioned that. When I initially installed them today I had them "properly" placed because the bag was labelled LH and RH but the more I looked at them the odder they looked so I assumed they were miss packaged. So this evening I repositioned them as pictured. Think i will leave them as is but, thanks for pointing that out.

Just saw your thread last night. Great Job! Nice touch using the powder coat everywhere.

There is a whole thread on this subject here KY/Roma:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/581947-who-really-knows.html

And my conclusion from that thread was that there is good evidence that toyota mounted them both ways.

BTW - I've really enjoyed catching up on your thread just now Roma.

I guess I missed that thread, but interesting reading. That being said I would correct it, and no offense Roma but I would paint that rear crossmember black. Doesn't look right to me.
