Is your PS bumperette on correctly? Looks funny. According to CCOT there is a right way to mount, see below:

Yes, Toyota Bumperetts are handed ~ Rt & Lt
The straight side of horseshoe goes outside
The curved side of horseshoe goes inside towards step"

And my conclusion from that thread was that there is good evidence that toyota mounted them both ways.
