Use the beefier ones, I doubt the 1u are rated for much over 75lbs if that. I found some 2u that were stamped 125# so I'm going to try and finagle something out of them.

I dont have any info on the rating of the 3u but the 1u are rated to 135lbs. I will probably use the 3u though

Those Tembo Tusk slides look real nice. How does it install to the vehicle? Does it use existing vehicle bolt holes? Is the base pre-drilled for different vehicle types?

There is a link to my DIY slide build in an earlier post to this thread. I used 24" 100lb slides, but the fridge has the tailgate below it when extended. I would recommend much heavier slides for those without a fold down tailgate. And use the highest grade wood you can buy, if you decide to use wood. I think my build cost around $100 including wood, slides, and hardware... It fits my 63 quart near exact.

If anyone makes a slide or something, please link it up here

I read TXLX100's thread for ideas and modified it a bit for myself. I have no shelf and made it as low as possible. I purchased longer bolts to secure the slide. They bolt into where the four factory holes are for the seat brackets.

Still wrapping it up. I'm spraying them the bronze color that matches the brown interior trim....

Here are a few pics:

Holes pre-drilled with screws every 5 inches.

That's pretty slick! Just finished my drawers and picking up my IPOR rear tomorrow so I probably won't have time to start mine this weekend.

TXLX100 thank you for the complement! We supply both Equipt Expedition Outfitters and Adventure Trailer for their fridge slide needs.

The slide is designed to fit any 12 volt fridge currently on the market. The slide base is drilled but not to any particular vehicle. I do have a Docking Station that will aid in the installation. However, each installation is different and the holes are a guide.

They cancelled my order because the unit that I was supposed to get did not pass the inspection. Hopefully I can get boosted up on the list for the next available fridge

Looks good TYM. How do you plan to keep it locked when closed? Mine slide is setup a little different, I used an Allen wrench through the side to lock it.

I noticed the stop bumps on my cheap slides were getting beat when closing the slide so I put a vertical "backstop" on my unit.

Thanks. I've been searching for latches and different options, but haven't quite figured that out yet.

I remember reading that and might come up with something similar.

Finished painting and adding hardware.

TYM, you might be able to go straight through the side with a small locking pin. Going through top to bottom might have a lot of slop (in my experience). Just thinking out loud, you could pull the slide all the way out and drill, from the inner, through one of the forward blank holes in the slide. And then drill from the outside using that pilot hole, through the base and slide to create the lock hole. I used a small Allen wrench as my locking pin.

Either my fridge missed a beat or I ran my battery too low. The truck had been parked for a day or so and the fridge was cold (35°), truck started a little sluggish. So I went on my way to the store, when I got home the fridge read 45° and had no intention of turning the compressor on after fiddling with the temperature dial.

Does the fridge have to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset the voltage cutoff? Once I did that, it worked fine on a charged battery (12.4v). It might be time for a group 31.

I'm guessing it's the battery. I had my two year old RedTop in at first and it only lasted one day. With the 31M, 5 days and still had some juice....

Probably so. I have a feeling it's about to go, full charge is 12.4v (drained it a couple if times at least). It's less than 2 years old, so I can get full free replacement. Need to see if dealer will let me upgrade to a 31M with the warranty exchange.

Nice find!

I received my new chest handles from Zoro Tools today (idea courtesy of warezdog). I bought them direct from Zoro Tools because F ebay. It was truly a 1 beer job in the dark. I did not paint them and don't know if I will (I think I have an aversion to painting coming from a long line of house painters). I may be able to ditch the plate steel now that I have the metal handles... Right now, I have the handles zip tied to my tie down hooks to keep them from bouncing around since they are not sprung. My sweet wife commented on the unsightlyness of 4 tie down straps to secure the fridge to the slide and I agree, so I will try to track down 4 turn buckles with hooks, or if someone has a better suggestion.... I have the two original edgestar handles if anyone wants them.

I had not tested out my Coleman stove to determine if it would fit on the sliding table. It fits, but just barely, the bottle is hanging on by about a half inch. 28" slides should be about perfect for a Edgestar 63 quart and a standard Coleman 2 burner stove with small bottle (I used 24" slides from Lowes or HD). The cheapo HF light I got for the fridge light will also hang off the stove in case I ever need to cook at night. (They are free right now if you receive HF coupons in the mail)

Coming from a guy that doesn't necessarily "wheel" or go on camping trips with just the truck, this fridge and slide setup has been a great addtion to my LX470. It performs well for grocery trips, trips to the lake, etc... And REALLY like not having to rush home after getting groceries. So buy one if you have the chance! (Buy 2)
