^Good to know. Are those measurements with the fridge compressor running or not? My fridge drops volts at the battery by about 0.2V when the compressor is running. I'm curious at what volts your truck won't start.

My battery may be on the weak side, after it settles following a drive, it reads 12.25V, so I've been unplugging my fridge or putting it on shore power when not in use. Not knowing about the group 31 mod, I put an Interstate group 27 in about a year ago, it would have been a great time to do it.

Another low tech mod for fridge lighting, I picked up a cheap harbor freight LED light for a $3. It has a main light and a light that shines out the bottom when hanging. It hangs on my tie down strap when not in use, and I can grab it easy for other things. Last couple things I've bought from HF came with batteries!

I've read 11.5V is the recommended low point. A couple battery protectors I've seen cut off accessories at that point

I was thinking about rigging up something like this with a pin switch to turn it on when the lid is open.

A 80 or 100 series will start will lower battery voltage then 11.5 FWIW. Running your battery below 12v or 50% discharge is very hard on the battery and shortens its life.

Without it running.

Recorded voltage/time. This is with an empty fridge using a Sears Platinum 31M battery, fridge pre-cooled to 26 deg. and set for 34 deg.

Starting voltage 12.98

24 hours in - 12.58V

48 hours in - 12.32V

96 hours in - 11.82V

120 hours in - 11.45V

Truck took one second longer to start, so I am calling it. At 11.82V with this battery, the truck started without hesitation. At 11.45V it took only one crank longer, but by trained ear you could tell the end was near for the test. I would guess one more day, maybe two???

In no way would I be letting the truck sit like this in a real application. On trips, the truck wouldn't even sit for 24 hours without driving. And if there were to be a higher power demand than needed, I would add a solar panel to the equation.

Keep in mind there IS NOT ONE TEST that will give you data to rely on. There is an infinite number of variables at play, no matter what you try to do.

All said 5 days is pretty awesome for this cheap red headed step child!:bounce:......plus a good battery helps!

*NO BEER WAS HARMED DURING THIS EXPERIMENT.

You didn't by chance ship to an address different than your bill to address did you? That happened to me and Phil got mine because his transaction cleared sooner, if the ship and bill are diff then it's held up for a follow up call from CS to prevent fraud.

In any case you can just wait it out like I did, took them a couple weeks but they came thru.

Phil do you know when your Renogy panel was made? Does it have a date? And did you try their controller or did you just get a panel and then the morning star?

When your order went backorder, did you contact compact appliance or did they contact you? I still have an order, but the charge isn't on my credit card anymore. I may try to call them tomorrow and see what the deal is, I ordered while there was one available and later on there were two available. It's a fridge for my mom, so I really don't care... I'd prefer to get a 43 quart for her since it's going in a CRV (relax, it's AWD, so you know it's a badazz).

I called them and gave the cust rep the order number and then found out that Phil got mine because they held mine up for different ship to bill to address. They're very good and had me one within a week or so if I remember, you'll basically go to the top of the list.

For those getting a group 31 don't forget the interstate warehouse "blem" deal for $35, smaller groups are $25. They're all I buy now, blem in the cruiser as my 2nd house battery going strong now for almost 3 years.

They are canceling my order, oh well. They said someone from a different time zone ordered at the same time, so I assume they had precedence. I guess that means the item is still open for sale even if it's in the "Cart." Fridge hunt back on!

That sucks man.

Keep trying, took me months checking daily, after finding it on the expidportsl thread, to get one in my cart

Yeah, thanks to the original post, I didn't wait long at all until I got the one I have now and it came fast and no problems with processing.

Mine arrived today. Small dent in the corner but works great. I kept that page on my iPhone. I refreshed it frequently. When I saw there were 2 in stock, I jumped on it

Mine came in today too. All seems good. A small ding in the front and that's it

I have a set of 1u and 3u rack rails I was thinking about rigging up as a slide somehow.

Use the beefier ones, I doubt the 1u are rated for much over 75lbs if that. I found some 2u that were stamped 125# so I'm going to try and finagle something out of them.
