looking at the different options available currently ... the posts coming up as I search are several years old,

I'll 2nd the White knuckle sliders. Took a lot of abuse on my 4Runner. On that truck he even moved the slider mounting feet to fit around my RCI skids. Have bought 3 sets from John @ White Knuckle over the years. This latest pair will be going on my 06. Quick turnaround, good communication, good powder coating and great packaging.

I will say I like the reviews on the Slee sliders as well. Was tempted to try them this last go around but most of their offerings won't fit if you're retaining AHC.

Different ask than the thread you started a few days ago?

third for wk. NOTE: whatever vendor you choose, entertain getting the top plate option. this will mitigate the chance of ankle harm from foot sliping between tubes (friction tape tubes as well).

Is this what makes a slider a good step? My passengers use my running boards every time to get in our out, but I'd like to get some sliders. Other than the top plate, are some sliders better steps than others (protrusion distance or whatever)?

Yes, top plate will make the sliders into a better step and safer to boot.... Some companies offer different slider step angles as well. White Knuckle offers a flat, zero angle option which makes it better for a step but you lose wee bit of clearance.

I've had white knuckle put the full diamond top plate on mine and it works out nicely. Don't have to worry about the wife or kids slipping a foot through them.

Sounds perfect. I don't have a rock within a few hundred miles of me, so it'll mostly be a cosmetic upgrade. But I do have plenty of running board bashed dents from driving over downed trees during hurricane cleanups, so they should help with that, without the slight clearance issue mattering much.

They work great over logs and trees. Not too bad for mall crawling either. A guy in a miata threw open his door into my passenger side on my old truck in a parking lot one day. Really messed up the edge of his door and I had zero damage. They're really great for protecting the rockers from errant drivers too. Could easily save thousands in repairs in a minor sideswipe.

Also went with White Knuckle. They are exceedingly beefy. Flat with the diamond plate and have never had a slip stepping onto them. Only downside is when going through deep muddy water, they will hold some water/mud. No big deal though.

My MetalTech sliders have taken a beating and protected the truck well. I’ve high centered on them, slid around obstacles, banged on rocks, and jacked from them. They look great, but don’t run your hand along the bottom unless you have a recent tetanus shot and gauze handy.

My apologies I completely forgot I made that other post I'll go ahead and delete it

Similarly, I was at a patient first medical facility and when I came out someone had side swiped my car. The slider completely protected the truck. They were in a lower car with a bumper. So there was a bit of paint transfer on my door from them, which buffed out. They are white knuckle sliders with a two tone powder coat. I can’t imagine the damage they did to their car. Prob some person high on medication or blind and stupid. The slider just has some rub on the powder.

Long story short, sliders are great for around town protection as well

I'll second white nuckle. never had a "conflict" with another car in that area. However, had one in the rear side...dissent rear bumper saved thousands of $....just paint trasfer while the other car was worked over. if want proof, search under my user name....picture worth thousand.....

Trail Tailor Featured Products - https://trail-tailor.com/index.html

I reached out to Jason at Trail Tailor in Redding, CA and he made me some custom sliders, and powder coated and shipped them to me. they fit and look great, would recommend 100%. He doesn't have them listed on his website right now but can and will make them to your order.

The WKOR were my 2nd option, but a family member had great success with Trail Tailor's 40 series parts so I wanted to give them my business. Glad i did.

The sliders sit a little lower than some may like with the 15 degree upward angle deleted, but I'm honest with myself and don't expect to hit any hard trails and actually rub these things, so the 98% of the time they are used as a step they will be more convenient then the 2% of the time they need to protect my rig.

I also saw another forum member showing off their Trail Tailor sliders that had a custom "LAND CRUISER" cut in, asked Jason if he could do that to my set. He did, and they look amazing.

Would love to see some pictures if you'd post a few

I've been thinking about sliders for a while now and white knuckle off road seems to be the top choice. I have a few Trail Tailor products though so would be interested in seeing the set he built for you @Maximus924
