11/20/21 update
Busted out the CNC Laser Engraver to start making the turbo manifold flange.

Had to make myself some new coasters while I was at it too. Can you blame me, these turned out wicked cool! Don't crucify me though, i ran out of slate before I could make a 55 and a 75)

Ss304 SCH10 parts arrived for my manifold. Just need to finish the 6 port flange and we can get to burning metal!

Threw the fittings on the lathe and trimmed them to fit.

Mocked up with my cardboard template.

Flange came back from waterjet. Got a tour of the facility. It's crazy to think they can cut 17+" thick stainless! Tried to pay for it. Come to find out my girlfriend had stopped by this morning and paid it for me, as a surprise. What a doll!

Tight as, but she fits! Back purging and welding is tomorrow.

Happy Chrimbus, I finally remembered to upload something.
20211224_205453.jpg

I finally had an excuse to buy a 3d printer, and I started off by designing my manifold to turbo merge.

After a couple revisions it was time to make a mold/cutting template

Then putting that up against some metal..

I cut two of these up. It could have gone a little better. I'm considering scrapping them and doing the same idea with 90's instead of 45's to give the collector a smoother transition. Leave a comment below on what you think I should do!
20211224_165341.jpg

Here it is, super tiny, not offering much of a transition whatsoever. I was hoping for the sides to sweep out a bit more like the 3d printed model I had. The elbows I got were a much tighter radius than the file I had printed.
Maybe I'm overthinking this, considering it's a 2h that makes all of 6 Horsepower.

Here's a blown up GT2554 I'm using to verify actual fitment since my 3d printed turbo is not an accurate size (GT2880).

Pending on what yall say and what I decide on, I'll either redo this merge or start machining the port out and welding stuff together.

if it were me, i'd make that outlet on the manifold as big as possible and match the turbo flange (if that's the turbo you're using?). seems like a restriction imo, and feels like there's a lot of threads about high EGT 2H's.

your manifold looks amazing btw

Thanks for the feedback!

That's not the turbo I'm using, the turbo im using will have a Vband flange like my prototype outlet has. I definitely see your view on the restriction though. I'll keep that in mind when making my decision.

Round 2, I'm going to try a 90 transition instead. Chopped two elbows in half.
20220107_212844.jpg

Chopped them in half again and looked at them thinking "wow, nice work Jeremiah. Think about how much easier it would have been to just cut the bottom off of a Tee fitting instead of this... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Oh well. I guess the hard way is good because I learned a few things along the way.

Big updates:
  • my turbo will be here Monday
  • I will be adding a stainless snorkel
  • I have started designing an air filter box on cad and will print the prototype on my 3d printer. Damn thing is going to take 5 days to print 😲

You'll be happy to see I went this route.

I finished up the mockery of my first turbo manifold. Learned alot. I hate how it turned out. I'll probably re-do it next winter if I'm that ambitious. Here it is.

Did someone order a smart thermostat?! Honeywell delivered today 😉

Of course I had to undress the ol girl for yall.

And a simple bolt-on cast stainless 3" vband outlet.

Then I REALLY started to undress her.

I've been figuring out the best way to index the compressor housing. I really wish I could have gotten a turbo that spins the opposite direction, but here we are. I'll eat what I made.

I purchased the ol mate in Queensland February 2021 and received it in SLC August, 2021.

We opted to drive it the 1500 miles back home to Wisconsin because you know, that would be fun.

We had to stop and see Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters, as well as the museum.

I think my son and I may have met you guys at the museum when we were picking up biscuit the RJ77! I know we met a young couple that was just picking up a 75 pickup and there can't have been that many of them...

That was definitely

That was definitely us!

That was definitely us!
It is very nice to see the progress on what was a very nice truck when we saw it.

We had a few more days before we were able to pick up Biscuit and drive to Florida in it.

Alright, finally spent some time on the 75 again since winter is quickly coming to an end.

Exhaust time!

This was a pretty simple exhaust to build, a few bends and meters and about 2 half-ass days of work.

I got this "muffler" for next to nothing, so if I don't like it I'll scrap it and try something more substantial.
