Doesn't look like you have a RH JB fuse panel. Certainly none in above picture view. Check you owners manual.

Bumping this thread to get a better idea of what's the procedure to get this junction box off to replace/clean the relays on the back.

Having some gremlins after the last heavy rain, dealing with a windshield leak, and after reviewing every manual I chased the issue to a sticky relay (ACC #2).

The issue is that after shutting off the engine and getting the key out of the ignition, the screen and amp stay on, draining the battery in a few hours.

The windshield leak issue is on schedule to be repaired, but in the meantime I'd like to be able to start the car w/o a jump box..

It happened in the past, usually cures itself within a few hours, but this time it's persisting.
Managed to get it to shut off after getting all connectors off the accessible side and giving them a good clean with electronics spray cleaner and a small brush, but next morning it stayed on again.

There's a relay part # 9098704004 that might be the culprit, what I don't get is why Toyota hid this relay so deep in there instead of putting it on the visible side?.. oh well.

Anyway, if @2001LC or @BrettinSAT or anyone that was messing around with this box has some additional info on how to reach this relay without taking apart the whole dash please advise, It'll be very appreciated.

Thanks!

I've never pulled a RH or LH junction box. There's one or two TSB, that deals with RH & LH junction box. IIRC, it deals with; When E-brake on, alarm would sound. Root around mud or contact Toyota service department, to get a copy. It may have the steps, to remove the junction box.

Thanks for that info, I'll get to it and search about the TSB.

Edited to add that I found this thread dealing with fog light relay on the non AC fan side of the 100, and even there where it should be easier, it looks like folks had some issues removing the box and accessing the relays:

Great thread and it gives me confidence that probably I'll have to find another way to deal with my Right side junction box, thinking about employing a witch or a magician to fix it..

Bumping again to see if anyone that was dealing with passenger side junction box managed to take it off without taking apart the whole dash, and more important, put it back on!.

(Pass side for US LHD to be clear)

Hi,

I have a JDM UZJ100 (so Right Hand Drive) with similar Electrical Gremlins chasing a windshield leak. So in my case its the passenger side that is a pain to remove. I have done this twice, first time to clean to solve the issue, and 2nd time replacing the whole Junction Box because cleaning solved it temporarily.

I have not seen a possibility of removing this Junction Block without removing the dash and the blower unit. Some pictures attached will throw some light on accessibility. You might be able to squeeze some skinny hands and /or long racheting wrench to get to the top Earthing Nut by removing the Crash Bar for more access before removing the blower. As i believe removing blower housing requires removing evaporator housing, which requires A/C refrigerant to be discharged.

I hope this helps. sorry for the poor pictures. This job is so frustrating, just forgot to take more pictures.

All the best.

Hey @hb1980 that's exactly the answer I was looking for, thanks for confirming my fears!

Some of the gremlins fixed themselves with some cleaning and wiggling of the accessible connectors, but who knows what damage was done already and when they'll come back, Murphy usually comes at the worst time.
As soon as I get some cooler weather I'll poke around a bit more to see if there's a way to get to it w/o removing anymore than needed, but worst case I know now that's gonna be a dash out job.. oh well, that's part of owning this LC..

Thanks again and I guess I'll keep this thread updated when I do.
