Here's a short video showing how the cam switch works....

that video is great, thanks for showing, I should recieve the missing bits tomorrow, so will get some photos on how its going to look and some install pics etc.

Video recorder may have to wait a little bit. lol

Sorry for the delay, I've installed the 10.2 inch monitor and one of the rear cameras so far (photos below) I didn't get photos along the way like I should have, got caught in the moment of installing them.
so finished products, but will be able to get photos of some of the locations of the wire etc.

Firstly I put the 10.2 inch monitor on top of the mirror it has good clamps as well as straps to hold it in place designed for trucks and bumpy rides so should be perfect. Sorry about the quality of the images, the monitor is perfect however didn't come out as good on the photos taken

Single view

Double view AV1 & AV2

Multiview (3 cameras at once) AV!, AV2, AV3

there are 4 AV inputs and you can select them in any sequance you like, however when you put in reverse will always default to AV1 & AV2

then I needed to unbolt the factory centre roof console (sub fuel tank one) to get access to the roof lining to run the cable wire, so also undid the passenger (here in Oz the left side) so the visor and clip, plus grab handle all ahd to come off, Poked the wire up beside the mirror stem up under the console and into roof lining then down the A pillar on left side.

First rear camera mounting, I decided to remove the rear washer spray nozzle as for running this camera all the time, i fugured I won't need to wash the rear window with the washer, plus I do keep my car very clean so shouldn't be to much of an issue.

So I removed the washer nozzle and the connecting hose underneath.

Now I need to run the signal wire and power wire (which is all in the same wire) down the left side of car near the sill where all the other cables are going. so far I have started at the back end quater panel at tail lights where the other wire is, using a stiff wire strip I poked it up to the roof lining then taped the connections through with electrical tape etc got it to the roof lining in the corner.

Took the rear washer hose off the chassis side plugged and blocked it off (plus emptied the bottle) so no leaks will ocur in roof lining.
Then after poking the power and signal wire through the roof lining placed through the hole where washer goes, poked it through, placed a gromet where washer gromet and right angle was goes, then into the rear door using the same washer gromet that was there and finally up to the camera.

All wires was poked out connected the camera, sealed the connections and placed them back into cavity of the door, hidden, protected and out of the way. Used a perfect gromet to protect the hole from water and onto camera aswell, Used industrial double sided tape (super strong binding, so I didn't have to put any other holes into car) on the camera and rear door of 4wd. and also put some silican to make sure its all water tight.

Put some wire conduit between the door and chassis so it looks fatory fitted just like the washer was.

Camera doesn't move one little bit, and already been over some rough stuff to test to see if would require tightening down even more, so far so good.

However I'm getting a rear sun visor, not only do I like the look of it, it will provide extra support for camera anyway, also will make it less noticable aswell.

I honestly can't believe the difference it makes. with the rear mirror only or turning around to look out the back window, with car seats, me being short and the rear tyre, that's just about all I can see.

Here is a pic of what I normally see, if you can make out there is a man standing on the left, barely see him, and the car is about 3 car lengths away he is standing beside his car.

here is the same image about 1 sec later and you can really see how far back they really are.

Not only do I have an incredible range of view now, it's wider can see all three lanes, close up, when a car pulls up behind me I can see it, where before the car could be completely lost behind the spare tyre, certainly makes reversing easier, much easier to guage cars behind me, most cars in Oz are so small as soon as they are behind you directly you can't see them out of either side of the car either, making it impossible to see and judge anything.

Anyway I'll post some pics tomorrow to show you what I've done and to show you all the difference between camera and out the back etc.

If anyone is interested I will post the intended electrical setup that I intend to use

Reverse Camera Install with PICS!!!

Pics added to last post

Looks good :)

Question on the cameras....

In pitch black, do you get any glare from the IR LED's under the glass?

I've found that when the LED's are behind the same glass as the camera lens, the glass tends to have a spotty white glare in total darkness :meh:

The cameras that have external LED's tend to have a clearer night view

I don't think so, but it's still so new I will try to pay better attention mostly cause I haven't used much at night. I do find it not worth using whilst driving at night, to much glare from lights coming up behind you plus the monitor just so bright when it happens, better to use as a mirror at night.

Fantastic during the day, I've only used a few times reversing at night, so far very happy, even night view.

Almost have the second camera finished and reverse switch, all mounted up, just need to wire it up. Pics to come in the next couple of days
