Hey Folks, new here. We've been commissioned to fully restore this beautiful FJ62 we picked up from BaT. Once already restored but client wants a full colour change to Medium Blue.

Here's how's she's sitting at the moment. Motor is getting a full rebuild from top to bottom. Interior has been reupholstered to leather and most vinyl pieces have been dyed to black including the steering wheel.

Each to his own, but...I can't imagine changing that original beautiful paint and graphics. That was truly unique.

Agreed, if it was only my personal FJ.... The new period correct colour at least comes as a consolation in this case. The vehicle had already undergone some restoration work before it was listed on Bring a Trailer but the client insisted on choosing his new colour.

that blue is popping! These clowns stating the original color was awesome probably drive beige-colored trucks, lol. That color and decal scheme was wack...the blue is lightyears ahead and factory as well. Nice job.

My 60 is desert tan.....way to call me out like that lol
Mine is Black Jade. Cooler than both of those colours. But I preferred that factory scheme just because finding an actual originalthat blue is popping! set up is so rare now.
To @CartechClassics I missed the fine strip of original metal just under the front of the dash when I painted mine
so it's not painted the new colour. Bit of oversight on mine, but its a 60 so the dash coverage is a bit less than the 62
I think. Just thought I'd mention it. Looks like a good and proper respray though, so compliments to that. I'm from the island.
Have to see how this turns out, guys always asking for recommended shops. I only do my own stuff no time for extra work.
Can inquire as to what the exact paint product and what the paint code is for the medium blue you put on?
I have a drivers door to replace and repaint on my 89 and THAT blue looks like a great color to start with!

Apolgies for the late reply guys been busy with other projects at the shop. We're still waiting our engine to be put back together. Will also show some updates on it once done.
Interior has started to go in. The interior has has been full reupholstered to black leather, new carpets and seat belt set. Dash, door, console buttons and even Decals from @WoodnotRust and even the steering wheel has been dyed to black.
Audio setup is being tee'd up as we speak with the wiring.
Hoping to get some refreshed parts from Cruiser Parts any day now as well.

I’d agree wholeheartedly with that. Soooo many trucks are “flipped” nowadays. But hey whatever sells. I’ll never paint or LS swap mine.

Not really out of the woods. We happen to have found one that was partly restored which was a nice starting point for the client. If we found a chassis which had not any work done yet, we would have to do the replacement ourselves and it would've inflated the budget a lot more.
Customer is making this their private island vehicle
so they wanted to personalize it and take care of all the major upgrades without having to deal with rust and other suspension related upgrades.
