Replacing stock HU on LC100. I want to replace the antenna too. Reason for replacement is that it only lifts a few inches. Search did reveal someone using a Tundra one but it was a bit of a hack job. I'm looking for a straight fit after market where i can just screw it in place.

Anyone have such an antenna? Do i even need to replace? Will it stay in down position when i turn the radio on? Can i just disconnect a power cable so the mast stays tucked?

The tundra swap is very simple. You can bolt it up to the stock location and it will fit but be slightly angled back. Or you can place a spacer between it to make it straight. Nothing hack job about it with mine.

Would you happen to have the link to where you bought it?

I'm sure you are already aware, but just in case...there is a rocker switch on the dash to raise and lower the antenna. Since that's not a common feature on a vehicle it's worth pointing out. It may also be that the switch is nonfunctional or disconnected and another place to check while diagnosing the problem.

I aware of the rocker switch.

I just want to know if i need to buy a new antenna for the aftermarket radio im buying since ours is powered.

Is it possible to leave the OEM antenna in down state since i mostly use padora or iheart radio for sports?

My OEM antenna is stuck in the full complete down position, and I still get my fm stations fine so I'm sure you'll be fine with your apps

I need to fix the antenna too. Mine is stuck in the down position a few months ago. I think something is broken. I can hear the motor running.

PO installed the Alpine HU, so I am not sure how the setup was done, but when it was working, the antenna will only stay up when I turn on the radio.

Hi guys, does anyone know of a plug and play direct replacement power antenna/aerial assembly under the ridiculous $400AU to suit my 105 cruiser?
I have blown the drive gear in the unit so the 5 minute mast replacement is a no go. I have seen some aftermarket replacements but they will require wiring and some mounting mods. I would like to keep it powered so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, G

Hi, mine is doing the same. If your lucky you can just change the mast and rope as in this vid
If your unlucky like me and have stripped the drive gear you'll have to replace the entire unit. I'm hoping for a reply with suggestions.

The factory head unit has a signal wire for the antenna so that it automatically rises when switched to radio, but stays down when set to CD, etc. Aftermarket head units have the same signal wire although some units raise the antenna when ever the unit is powered on, not just while set to radio. The Jensen above has a control wire, but not sure whether it only raises the antenna on radio.

The actual antenna cable is not part of the wiring harness. One could position the antenna where they want it, unplug the harness, and it will stay in that position without affecting signal reception.

I have an old Kenwood head unit and the antenna control wire stopped working. It would only rise a few inches. I wired the trucks antenna control wire to the head unit power wire and now it fully raises whenever I turn on the vehicle and the up/down switch works. It's a hack, but I'm looking for a new head unit, so it will only be temporary.

This past week, I thought my hack failed as the antenna was back to only rising a few inches. Before ordering the parts for the a Tundra mod below, I decided to take apart the antenna motor and see what was going on. The plastic track was just getting bound up at the gear. I pulled the track out of the side and a 12-volt jump pack attached to some alligator clip leads to run the antenna motor and eject all the track. I screwed it back together, reversed the alligator clips and sucked all the track back in. Works fine now, so the Tundra stationary antenna will have to wait.

Also, have some of the black inner fender clips on hand any time you fiddle with the antenna. I always break a couple.

Or OEM part is 86337-60150 ~$50.

Thanks labcab,
I'm going to pull my unit apart again today in case I've overlooked something. I'm installing a new android head unit from joying so I'll take it out completely and get it on the bench. I think I'll have enough dramas trying to work out the wiring for the head unit lol, so if all else fails I'll bite the bullet and get a new $400 genuine assembly from here in Oz. Grrrrr
Cheers, G

Fwiw I had no luck with the eBay masts. I think mine made it 6 months or so before breaking. Oem was much more expensive but has lasted about 10 years now.

Might have just been bad luck in this case, but thought it was worth mentioning.

How did the replacement of the Head unit with the Joying Android Unit go? I would like to change mine out in my 2004 LC, but was not sure how things work with the AC and other components that are managed through the head unit. I would be interested in your experience.

May have missed it on here, but i have broken my antenna as well in the car wash. Is there anyway to replace the current antenna with a screw in one. Don't really care for the original.
