Ok my plan is to install my new 100 watt rigid panel on the rack Im building now I have the 40Amp rover MPPT That I would like to tie into my magnum 1000 watt invertor and thru one of my batteries, any idea the best way to bring wiring into vehicle, and is there a thread that shows what Im about to do? Im thinking be able to remove panel when at base camp and set up is the way to go so I dont have to park rig in sun whilst camping.

Folding panel works well, just move it and point towards sun as needed. I have Anderson SB50 connectors on both of my vehicle batteries and also a couple mounted in the vehicle. Cables run through the firewall with grommet for in-vehicle.

I hook the panel direct to an MPPT controller that is tied to the aux battery. I can always manually combine both batteries (marine switch) to charge both if I have too much sun for the load - just to top both up.

e.g. in oz:

The roof on the patrol stores food and extra fuel, so not a place I want to put a fixed panel. Since I try to park in shade, having the panel fully portable works best for me.

cheers,
george.

Im trying to score a good offroad MUd memeber type diagram for the wiring, Renegy dosent go into it too much. I like the idea of anderson connectors too, I already bought the rigid panel I tested it out real quik on a shiity overcast day on a dead optima yellowtop and it kicked right into boost mode charged the battery right up. Im thinking I will make a bracket into my roof rack so I can swap it out easily. Im building the entire roof rack so Ill have some flexability.

yep . did the same on my foldable. Its nice having a long cable
