Ever since 3G coverage ended with our 2017 LX570, I havent had remote start.

Going into the winter, it would be nice to have that functionality again. Has any company stepped up to the plate recently to re-enable this?

I have a 2017 LX570 also. When we were in the process of purchasing it, the salesman told us that we could remote start it with the app, but just a few minutes later one of his buddies corrected him and told us that due to the 3g it won't work. We're still able to start it with the remote, but the range sucks and it's very sporadic. Sometimes I'm able to do it and sometimes it doesn't work. I really don't want to go with aftermarket and start splicing into factory wires.

Have you tried the key fob method? Not sure if they eliminated this when they updated to a more high tech system, but with my 2010, I can remote start by pressing the lock button on the key fob twice, then pressing a third time and holding.

Yea...the keyfob method still works, but the fact that the engine gets killed as soon as you open the door is irritating. If you have the fob, it shouldn't kill the engine.

It’s the same for all Toyota, Lexus and many other manufacturers. It’s a legal thing and yes I agree VERY annoying.

I had the Compustar G15 Pro (2-way) installed in my 2014 LX and the wife's 2012 Corolla around 3-4 years ago, and these remote starters have been fantastic. Phenomenal range, 2-way feedback, all around solid systems. I keep my Lexus key card in the wallet and don't carry the OEM fob at all.

Just tried the keyfob method.

Would have been nice to have egg on my face for the past so many years but no such luck

Sometimes I need to try about 3-4 sequences before it finally works. The remote start is finicky on these trucks.

If you open the hood, do you have a remote start sticker that was installed at the factory? If so, the key fob 3 button press method should work (with enough attempts).

Yeah, us 16+ LX don't have FOB remote start standard and since the death of 3G, we don't have the web based start either. From research I did a while back, I got that part number above but now I can't remember where I learned that or how confident I can be that it will work.

From my understanding, the early face lifted cruisers had the option of a remote start which is an actual part which would have been installed at the factory/port. That part would allow the Key Fob method to work.

You know it was if you have a sticker in the engine bay saying the vehicle is equipped with remote start.

remote start is weird topic. The keyfob (offline) and the enform web app are separate (requires 3g which has sunset). Regardless all toyos oem res systems have a 10 minute run cycle, turns off the engine minute one unlocks any door, and has a timer that essentially restricts how many remote start cycles can be done before a normal start is required.

I would still try to remote start with the fob a couple times, as its finicky and/or strict about key presses and delays. If you recently cleared the ecm or had the battery disconnected it also will not work until the engine has been started normally.

Some aftermarket and oem options

I installed remote start with app control from 12 volt solutions in my '15 after i couldn't get the factory remote start to configure. Works great. I highly recommend their product. No cutting of wires, completely plug and play

That sounds nice. Alas, they don't support the 16+ LX.
