Get off John's lawn!!!

Odds are my 62 will not be done by next year's Relic Run so my opinion means naught, but, I agree with John V, participation trophies need not be a concern. I think the organizers have a run away hit on their hands as is, why mess with success!

Jesus John, I would think even racking a shell is illegal in your neck of the woods.

That’s implied, of course, but thanks for bringing it up. Where were you this winter when the kids knocked down my rock wall by sledding in 1” of snow??? At least is wasn’t at 4am like the last time when I greeted them with the sound of an 870 racking one into the chamber.

I'm always available for some kid scaring but due to travel costs my rates have gone way up.
:D

Too funny

Imagine being a 12 year old brat with your buddies and Al steps out from behind a tree and grabs you by the back of your jacket.

Last year the 80's and FJ Cruisers got together and did a non-Relic Run at the same time as the official Relic Run.
This year we just stayed at camp and started the festivities off early and stayed up late!

LOL, even some of the "relics" did this too :)

@JohnVee enlightened me last night (thank you for the Elvis explanation ;) ), so I agree with the no 80 series and newer. We have our own events to play at... Heck, one of these days, I'll get to spend more than 2 hours at an event. I considered it a major win just to be able to hit the group camping area on Saturday.

@GLTHFJ60 - Both! But hey, I'm not THAT old; now Keefer @GarnerFJ40 on the other hand...

This actually got its own hashtag on IG. I started calling it the #outlawrun. Though all credit goes to @GarnerFJ40 for that name.

I went to a Orange County Overland event over the weekend up in Long Beach. My 1999 100 series was a relic along with a few 80s. 40s and a few old Toyota pickups. All these yahoos out here have are new 4 runners/tacomas with $20k in suspension that they never use. Oh and do not forget the axes!

"axes for the those desert pines that fall and block the trails"

Posers will never be understood.

Welcome to SoCal....... very fast cars, super lifted trucks, sand rails and toyotas and jeeps with more money in the suspension than I have in all three of my cars.

Think you are forgetting the mountains and forests that run north to south in California.....

True. I was thinking like crazy desert racing suspension that still never gets used.

Been to mammoth and Tahoe boarding. Lots of trees.

Yeah there are those out there also.... lots of money into the truck and not actually using it.... but most people do use it at least when they make it to the dunes

Who needs 20k$ in suspension when you have a land cruiser.

oh most of the tacomas/4 runners here are 2 -3 years old and they have been completely modded out with new suspension. This includes axes, hatchets, other tools all bolted to the roof rack (including the drivers) Most of these tools have no clue what they have. I'm looked at like who is that loser without King or Icon suspension. But the videos of these idiots getting stuck on stupid obstacles is great! I just drive by with tires aired down and that's it! I'll see if I can find some of the videos.
