im looking at purchasing a 60 but its in nevada it passed smog there and it was orrigionally a texas truck any one know what is required to register it and smog it in c.a.

do all 60s have the same smog equipement no matter what state they were first sold in

Yes. All US 60's came with smog equipment. You will just have to pass the emissions test here in CA which might be a little tougher than in NV. I don't know if it is different. You want to make sure all the smog equipment is there.

California now has the EVAP test to test your evaporative emissions system. It is all part of the new "SMOG TEST"

It is simple if you lived in Nevada and the vehicle was registered to you at your Nevada address. In this case, when you moved to Calif. you simply payed a one time fine/fee/bribe/whatever, and that was it. Now days I don't think you even have to pay the fee?
It is a whole different story if you simply visit Nevada and bring back a Nevada registered vehicle---good luck

>Some counties up in the northern part of the state do not require smog.

i believe all counties require "smog" testing but some counties probably the ones youre referring to, do not require biannual checks, only when the title is transferred. i know because i had a VW "Thing" with a porsche motor registered in Sierra county and i never needed to get it smogged except when i sold it.

Yep, I think Shasta County is another county like that.

Any post -74 vehicle that has been registered out of state and brought into CA has to have a smog inspection before DMV registration.

Yes, the new Low Pressure Evap. Test does add another possibility for failure. If you see anything obvious, like cracked vacuum hoses, broken VSVs, etc. fix those things first. While many stations, including the one I work at, offer free retests, there is still all the hassle of failing, fixing, then retrying.:bang:
