Not to derail James’s thread butCongrats on the new place! So jealous. I have one acre and have a shop planned out but can't afford the lumber to start it.
HOA requirements dictate that the building must match the house. Walls have to be covered in hardiboard with matching shingles on the roof. A roof pitch of 6/12 or greater is also required. While Southeastern building supply is my first choice, they only offer a 3/12 roof pitch. I'm also bending the rules as much as I can since the covenant is vague on building height and building size. This will be the largest detached garage in the subdivision by far, 30 x 44 with 12ft walls. Not to derail James’s thread but
Jonathan, why not go with a metal building like Eric Johnson’s?
I decided I’m going to work out of my garage until I find a place ( I have been looking) like James just bought. But that my be a few more years now.
