I bought a retubed DS from Safado a while back. See where he had it done.

I just had a driveshaft made by driveshaft superstore in phoenix. I DO NOT recommend them. They are nice people, just not the brightest. Plus the owner just passed away and I think that is the real problem. It took a month to make it and it cost 150 extra bucks than what I thought. Then when I finally got the shaft they made it 37" instead of 3'7" so I had to bring it back to them so they could lengthen it which took another week. Its a nice driveshaft but still, too much hassle.

Looking for a good drive shaft shop in the metro area. Usually it was either mesa drive shaft or dicks, but I guess they went out of business. Anybody know of a good shop? :hhmm:

Thanks

Josh

Last I heard Mesa Drive Shaft is still there, just changed their name. They have always done good work.

Arizona Driveshaft

X2 on AZ Driveshaft. They ain't cheap, but they do great work. I've high centered on my rear shaft countless times and expected it to be bent due to the scrapes and gouges. Each time I take it back to them to check, it comes back with new paint and "no charge" on the invoice, indicating it was still straight. IIRC they retubed it with .180" wall when I had it lengthened.

Arizona Driveshaft
I second these guys. I have done a lot of work there, and they have always done good work, and the prices have been fair. John

I like these guys

I like Phoenix Rack And Acksel...yes i mis spelled that on purpose.

I procured the above mentioned services and was happy with the result.

Why was I happy?

Reason #1:

I walked into the place and said, "I need someone to come look at my drive shaft." Their response was to pick up the phone and page some dood who popped out of the door and said, "What do you have for us?"

Reason #2

The dude that came out front in reason #1 actually got under my truck on his back and touched my driveline. He didn't do a half-assed assesment. He is the guy that builds the drive shaft and has no job requirement to actually inspect the install. Yet he did this. At which point, I said in my head, "This gai is not pissed off for having to go to work today."

Reason #3

Above mentioned dude assessed my situation and explained some options. Also, he noted the clever space I have on the front drive shaft and appreciated it's ingenutiy. Also, he "solved" the situation for cost. What I mean by that, if nobody understands my balbel...is......he came up with the lowest cost, best next step. Alternatively, he could have "sovled" for maximum profit and attempted to explore the inner regions of my wallet/arse.

Reason #4

Said dude..did the stuff he said he would do and promised me same day service. A few hours later, my part was ready for pickup and I received a phone call.

Reason #5

The place is next to a strip club.....so...even though my God Fearing self didn't actually embrace SATAN and go and unload my wallet all over the pretty single mothers...I did take a mental note. So when I have an extra $800 for a $200 drive line + an extra $600 to keep the single mothers out of forclosure...I'll probably make the leap.

Soooooooooooooooooooo....that's what I know.

I was very happy with the service and products I rec'd there. Retubed both of my 60 shafts with .120 wall tubing for right at $200 and did it in 24 hours.

Just my .02 cents here but I have used Driveshaft superstore twice, once for my 4Runner and another for the 40... and they were great... promised me a lengthened driveshaft for my 40 THE NEXT DAY and it was done, to spec, on time, price exactly as quoted.

If you bring the guy a 12 pack of regular coke classic he's your friend forever.

Your mileage may vary.

No stripclub nearby though :crybaby:

CUSTOM TOYOTA DRIVE SHAFTS

2x on Arizona Drive Shaft In Mesa.. Just had my front DS Balanced, and U-Joints, Expensive, but fast, and also got the shaft painted, and looked good witht he zerks in the right spot, and all very professional !;):hhmm: Maybe someone shoudl go ask for a group discount>??? :hhmm: :grinpimp:

Just wanted to add my disappointment with Driveshaft Superstore to this thread.

Their website shows a basic Toyota rear DS, with slip-spline and high-angle CV, for $295.

When I called the fellow he insisted that DS would cost $650... :frown:

His argument was that the site is outdated, and that's not his fault.

I politely thanked him for his time.

I'm just entertained by the guys at Driveshaft superstore. Everything is a different price depending who you talk to. I got lucky with a homeless looking fellow that insisted while I wait I check out the "Hilarious men for men" personal adds in the phoenix new times...I politely declined and he started reading them to me... Picked up a high angle cv shaft for the front of my 60 for $250 and I was super impressed with the quality. The next time it was 350$ for the rear... Still a deal in my mind. Both times I called on the pickup date and it was pretty obvious they hadn't even started but I told them I'd be by later that day and they got them done... Wouldn't recommend unless your patient and want a good laugh. They do make a good product in the end though. If you ever do use them tell them you'll pay cash when you pick it up. I wouldn't give them money ahead of time.

On the other hand Arizona drive shaft is very professional and always on time and I would highly recommend them to anyone..

Ah OK, I'll call back and do my "Gay dentist, more nitrous" stage routine and see if that gets me a rear shaft I can swallow...

phx R&A all the way, got a shaft w/ slip yoke eliminator ordered and picked up same day
