close to garden grove

i've looked but didn't see any mechanics in orange county or close to garden grove, is there any that you guys might recommend , someone that knows how to dial in carbs and distributors...

Near Chattanooga I can strongly recommend Import Support. They aren't solely a Toyota shop, but they are probably 90% Toyota. Lots of experience, good attitude, eager to work with you. Usually several 4Runners, pickups and an occasional Cruiser for sale. I trust them completely. They've saved me a ton of money on several occasions.

Here is one you DO NOT want to use in the SF Bay Area:

4 Wheel Drive Specialties
Arnold industrial Road
Concord Calif.

Hired them to install locker and gears. All I got was leaks from damaged axles seals front and back - with new seals. Returned for them to fix and was told that my axle shaft was likely worn (BS!!!). Made repairs myself: seals were slammed in and extruded. In short they screwed it up by being in a hurry and not caring. He also told me that Cruisers were junk and that Jeeps were preferable.....and THAT ain't right!!!

Anybody know a good place to have a 3rd rebuilt in the Austin area, preferably south side of town? Krawltex moved north. All my tools are buried in storage. Thanks

Excellent, affordable, honest, fixes problems other mechanics fail to.

Definitely one of the best mechanics in the area.

Lyle at AutoTranz in Boise, Idaho worked for AMCO Transmission for over 20 years. He was also the highest certified transmission mechanic in Idaho. He now has his own shop and handles all my transmission and all other mechanic work. Lyle is honest, reasonable and competent which is difficult to find now days. He can be reached at 208-344-5539.

I don't know if you found your mechanic yet but I recommend Lyle at AutoTranz in Boise if you have further need. 208-344-5539. Good Luck!

Instead of having to sift through 11 pages of post on whose the best at what and where, and if anyone knows anyone where...

Is there some way this thread could be alphabetized by State?

Break it down by State, then have either a city or Service drop down.

If that's not possible, maybe at least a service and state break down.

Maybe something like this:

State/Region: Service: Name/Address: Refering Source:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado

Or this:

Engine (gas/petrol)
Engine (diesel)
(list states underneath by category or drop down)

Transmissions
(same here)

Paint/Body
(Same here)

General repair and maintenance
(Same Here)

It's just a thought to try to improve the site. It would sure make it easier to locate some of these fine folks that people refer:beer:

Besides, if you're travelling and break down, a quick referral source would be a HUGE advantage to the members here:clap:

I don't know how difficult it would be, but is it possible?

Thanks.

Carburetion Technology in Tacoma, WA did a great job getting my partially desmogged weber converted mess to successfully pass smog.

Off Duty,

The search function is your friend. Click on the "search this thread" link and type in your cities/state/region seperated by the word "or" in the keywords section. For example, typing in the phrase "tacoma or seattle or washington" (minus the quotes of course) yields all the posts in that thread that contain any of those keywords--mostly other people in the NW looking for a mechanic, but it does narrow the search down! Hope that helps.

Any cruiser mechanics in Saskatoon? (Canada)

Thought I'd throw the question out to folks.

Does anyone know of shops in or around Saskatoon - I've been checking here... through the forum... I've checked the TLCA website for cruiser groups. Nada as far as I could see. Maybe overlooked something so I thought I'd post it here....

If anyone would care to share that would be awesome and much appreciated. You could be in Saskatoon or maybe someone who drove through and got excellent help.

Flame *first post...pressing send...bing!*

Want to throw props to Michael and the guys at ACC in Atlanta. They put an OME suspension on my 62 and did a fantastic job!

SAN ANTONIO Mechanic

OK - I'm just a newbie but I've been taking my 97 to Rick Cowherd - Alamo Auto Doctors. He's a Toyota Master mechanic - great service, owner and mechanic - great pricing. He opened up his own shop after working for dealers for 20 plus years. I can;t say enough - he took my fear away of owning a vehicle like a 97 LC.

Thanks brother, it did help but there's still too much to sift through, especially if someone's in hurry:(

Seems a regional separation would be more beneficial to the members?

Oh well, just a though.

Thanks man and have a great Thanksgiving.

Bend, Oregon?

EDIT/UPDATE:

I found and used Happy Danes Quality Auto in Bend, Oregon for a complete PPI on a truck in the area.

The shop isn't necessarily a TLC specialist, but they shook the truck down completely and help me avoid buying a truck with lots of problems.

Honest, quick and good communication.

Hello all, I'm hoping to find a good LC mechanic in the Bend, OR area to do a full PPI.

Found a few Portland recommendations searching this thread, but nothing in the Bend area.

Any recommendations? Thanks,

Austin Tx Garage

I use B&B muffler. They don't specialize in LC but work on a few local rigs (fj40s, 62s) including mine. Honest work. A friend (Michael Hiede) owns and runs it. Located in South/Central Austin close to Zilker Park and Downtown.
