Slowly cutting, grinding, fitting and repeat.
I’m using the grippers to fixate the part While fitting.

With the curve close enough it is time for the rest. Here is a panel roughly cut and in position..

Looking for the best layout to connect the different pieces.

Here is the reason you don’t want to leave brackets in their place.
This looked ok but some rust came out during the hammering on the floor.

when I took this off.........

This made me curious of the second tank bracket that was still under there.

Due to the deep pitting I decided to replace the corner, here are a few stages of making the patch panel.
First a rough shape and some forming.

here is what is left of the metal.

fitting without,

And with the seat bracket.

Now for the pitting in the floor, at first I wanted to go with it but decided it needs to be replaced.
used the bead roller to make the ribs And roughly drew the shape on it.

Rough shape drawn on the floor, you can see the deep pitting. The PO had a fake floor over the original one.

Next I used painters tape to make a template of the floor.

placed the tape on the patch.

I need the measurements for the door openings.
Can one of you measure up the side door openings , square and diagonal, with pictures of the measuring points?
I think I asked it before but can’t find them now.

Put the B pillar back in.

Then started work on the rear inner fender again.
Replacing some rust for steel.

Fixed the rounded edge, not sure about the inner section, it is pitted but I will see if it is structural when the rest is finished.
I took a lot of time fitting the part to get a tight fit.

Then tagged it in using as little rod as possible. The new metal is thicker and shrunken which makes it protrude.

Cleaned up the weld.

And started removing all the dents and shrunk the flat pieces between the ribs that were oil canning from the previous damage.

I took the tub off the rotisserie.

It is going to be stored for a while, in the mean time I will start another small project.
This wil be a nice learning stage and has a quick start and finish.

My little side project, lots of rust. Something to improve my fabricating skills and help someone out at the same time.

I can post some pictures during the project if someone is interested.

I’m definitely interested 😄

Piece of cake knowing what you usually tackle. 🤣
Its going to be cheating too as body panels have been ordered.
The challenge is keeping it straight as floor and sills are bad and it has a huge sliding roof.
These things are terribly designed and produced, three to four layers of sheet stacked on each other with coating done after welding.
Every part I separate is severely rusted on the overlapping pieces.
