Well done for staying with it. As others have said most would have started a fresh. In fact maybe you did say why but why would you stick with a tub that has next to nothing left ? Are they very hard to find where you are ?

Some new toys added to the collection.

What I can find here is of poor quality but still expensive. It would give a lot of work and still won’t give me satisfaction for the end result.
For me it is about working on the cruisers and learn new things. It is more fun spending the money on tooling and learn how to use it.
40’s are fun to work at. Its all about the journy not the destination.

yeah ok fair enough, I have a shop full of tools for the exact same reason :)

No problem glad to help.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks, and if you need some pictures/dimensions of some part you have totally lost, just ask. I have quite good front tub (1981).

I like my Teseven 1/2 tub I got, it’s not original, looks different underneath, but just what I need. But like you said: Its all about the journey, not the destination. I understand and respect your route.

Tseven tubs are nice but that would take the fun out of it.

Considering remaking the DS floor from scratch.

Unfortunately I forgot that the edge of the floor is at an angle, so a new patch must be made.

The side of the front DS support is rusted up bad so it needs to be replaced.

Patch made.

Welded the patch in and the new middle section, I wanted to use the original end piece but decided to make a new piece.

New front floor section with the angled floor.

Started with making a new DS front floor.
Never did something like this before so it is trail and error.
Started with an old piece of sheet that I roughly cut to size.
Next I cut a piece of cardboard and started to shape it over the remaining part of the floor.

Bend the side of the floor where itconnects to the rocker panel and clamped it to the foot.

Marked the different points on the sheet.

After some hammering and E Wheeling the shape is showing.

This is where I got today, wil see tomorrow if this one will be right or scrap.

What is thickness of the sheet?

Next step will be wheeling out the ribs and when there is enough material flow form the correct shape in the ribs.

I continue to be impressed by your skill and what you’re able to accomplish. I’m able to do a lot of the same, but am finding that my body will no longer cooperate. I’m hoping to find ways to improve my health in the coming year so that I can continue my journey. For now, I’ll have to settle for doing what I can and following along your rebuild.

I hope that you have a great 2019, and that you continue to find your build fufilling.

I again find myself at a crossroad in my life. If I could get my body to cooperate I’d take up a journey similar to yours... but build Cruisers full time. However as much as I’d like to, I’ll likely have to take another path.

Thanks for your compliments, it is always nice to have an apreciating audience.

As for the physical aspect there is not that much difference between us. My body is not coöperating either. I just do what I can and sometimes I do to much which leads to a longer recovery period. I am constantly balancing actions and rest which if done right keeps me mobile. If I don’t move enough its not good either.

The hitting with a hammer is not something I can do to long as it hours my hands, shoulders and back.

For me working on my cars is necessary to clear my head from my day job.

On a good week I can get away with doing some. If I don’t move enough I’m worse, if I do to much I loose sensation in my arms. It used to come back... but after being told by many specialists it was all in my head, I tried pushing through. It has now been two years since the sensation came back. Lately I can’t get with anything and will pay for it for weeks. Even the day job has been out for almost 3 years.
