Just got my stock 6/74 FJ40 cruiser back together after a year of cleaning and painting from the firewall forward. Did not remove engine or distributor. Sandblasted frame and painted. Rebuilt starter, alternator. New ballast resistor, Voltage regulator, and coil. New battery, cables and end connectors to coil, distributor, and starter.

Noticed that I did not have anything connected to the tag wire (Blue) coming off of the Voltage Reg. Did I miss something? Don't remember it connecting to anything?

New Coil is getting power. - Connected Volt meter to + side and gound - 11.85 volts.

Wires that connect to coil:
Positive(+)
Black/Yellow to Ballat Resistor (New) to coil
Black/White

Negative(-)
Black - to distributor

The engine cranks over fine but no spark coming from the coil. Any help would be appreciaited.

Regards,

Scott

cable? check it doublecheck the wiring, then i would look at the coil

pop the cap off, key on, stick a test light on the wire on the points, if it is hot, turn the engine over with the starrter and watch for the points to arc. this is what triggers the coil.

Replaced the points and it started right up. Might move to a Pertronix setup. Thanks for the help Texican!
