Rear third problem

I'm having a hard time pulling my rear third member. I have an ARB RD08 locker, the cross shaft is out but I can't get the thrust block/spider block out.

It looks like the axles are interfering but I can't get them to move out.
Am I missing something?

Pulling the third member out of the axle? right? You removed the clips on the axles? Think it is similar to my 60.

You pulled the pinion shaft. then pull the axles snug into recess in the side gear, pull out the thrust block and the ring around it, then push the axles in, remove the c clip, and pull the axles out.

It sounds weird Dan, it isn't a difficult operation, usually. Is the ring hanging up on the short shaft of the third pinion gear?

No rush on the SST. All my trucks have a fairly fresh knuckle service!

If the block went in, it has to be able to slide out. So is the assembly catching on the back of the ring? The thrust block is already between the axles so by definition, it can't really be caught.

Yes I think the ring is hanging up on the axles. The assembly moves out about 1/4" then stops.

I read your posts, looked at the RD08 diagram, and could not think of anything array; I think that I would really need to look at the situation in person to have a constructive comment.

It was just bizarre, I fought that bastid for hours yesterday. Then it almost fell out this morning. All I did was give both axles one more yank, I didn't feel any movement but they must have gone just that bit further that allowed the thrust block to come out.
The front diff is out of the rear axle and the repaired rear third is installed.

I had a similar experience with my front motor mounts, fought the hell out of the DS for a whole afternoon. Finally gave up, walked away and drank a beer. The next day I nudged the motor and the bolt fell in place.
