Rear step of the troopie: standard or option? (1 Viewer)

Hi all, my troopie has a step mounted to the rear 'bumper', which I guess is there to make it easier for the troops to get in and out of the rear, but I am also seeing troopies that don't have the step but 2 separate 'bumperettes' (not sure what they are called). So I was just wondering if the step was added later (my troopie is from 1983), or if it was an option. Would be cool to learn something Cheers

I assumed it was standard on troopies, it was an option on 40 series

Thanks for the reply. Here is a picture of my rear (I know that there should be a round tube mounted along the edge, but that was crap so I didn't reinstall that). Do you mean that there should be bumperettes on each side of the step? There doesn't seem to be any space for that?

that step is not OEM, the OEM step would fit between the bumperettes and use the inner mounting bolts of each to attach
the step being 12"? wide or so

Both options are possible: a narrow step between the bumperettes or a wider step that replaces the bumperettes, apparently in combination with an auxiliary fuel tank (why would that be I wonder?). With aux fuel tank they mean a tank mounted to the swing out carrier (as can be seen here: PartSouq Auto Parts Around the World - https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/toyota/part?catalog=EU&model_code=HJ47RP-K3&group=7751)

At least that is how I am interpreting the catalog. What do you think?

that looks like mine, except that it looks like your step was cut to allow for the tow bar

But then here is a picture of a FJ45 with bumperettes, narrow step and swing out carrier for fuel tank ... basically contradicting what the drawings say!

All the FJ45 Troopys I have seen in Saudi have the rear step. Here's a photo of my 1983.

Alot of aussie troopys got that step as well.
