Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with getting our rear AC units to actually blow heat. My 3 year old is not to happy with me when he is shivering in the back seat. The control module shows a blue to red temperature adjustment but it only blows cold air.

I wasn't sure if anyone has attempted this or knows of a bypass somewhere. Let me know what your thoughts are please.

Thank you in advance as always.

Travis

hmmm, mine blows heat when set to red...

Well, I said I said my truck produced heat back there, but that was based on what my kids and wife told me last week. They all swore it put out heat when turned up, but I had been under the impression it would not. Mine is all blue. I'll try to confirm what mine actually does.

Mine is an 03, maybe a design change?

Dan - What settings do you have that might be different from ours. My navigation dash climate controls are on floor vent max hi heat. The rear is set to high, rear cool (to engage the rear system) and temp set to 8 red arrow.

I would love to be able to have heat in the rear without having to have the whole system on floor vent.

Mine is also a 2003 GX470
Thanks in advance.

my wife has a 2010 GX460 and the rear heat is actually coming out of the roof vents in this new body style. just as reference.

As I understand it, there is no rear heat, only A/C. I don't think there is a rear heater core. The blue/red control in the back seat sets the rear A/C temp relative to the front A/C temp. If you turn on the rear fan then it should recirculate cabin temp air which could start to feel warm eventually. When the front heater is on floor mode there should be heat coming out from the vents under the front seats.

They must have corrected the temp panel then. It is a bit frustrating to look at... oh wait I am never back there. lol Rear heat would be a nice addition though.

I haven't checked myself, but from what I've read there are vents under the front seats that will blow heat onto the rear floor area.

So I checked. If I have the heat on the heat comes under the seats. If I crank the back controls it blows cold from the overhead vents.

So is this a separate unit from the front, but runs off the one compressor? Does anyone know where the condenser is? I always put stuff under my front seats, guess that is going to stop or make a path for the heat to get to the back.

Has anyone put seat heaters in the rear seat?
